Jump started car after it being dead for a day
Got a jump drove around and let it run for an hour the car seems fine now. But, now when I take the keys out and open the door the car makes the door open sound except it's a long tone. And now also my Km/ distance shows in the dashboard for about 15 minutes. It's ...

My van is making a loud grinding noise when in Park and in neutral.
It also has smoke coming from ignition, and if key is in ignition and just set to on it seems like it's trying to start on its own. Noise not when in reverse or drive.

I need to how and where to grease the under parts of my truck
Excellerating through 3rd and into 4th gear there's a noise coming from the rear of the truck sounds like that squawk sound a 10 speed bicycle makes sometimes when the brakes are applied. The truck sat for a while before I bought it so I'm hoping it just needs a ...

I'm assuming this is an automatic transmission. There is very little you can do, grease wise.
However the slipping 3-4 shift may be because of a low transmission fluid level. Check fluid
level with engine running. If problem continues you probably have a more serious transmission
problem. The noise you hear when braking can be caused by rust on the rotors or drums. This
will go away on its' own.

Get this fixed ASAP. Carbon monoxide is odorless and poisonous. Most likely an exhaust leak somewhere near the engine or before the cat. If it wasn't installed correctly, maybe welded on poorly, it'll also affect emissions.

There are codes stored and disconnecting the battery did not fix anything. The cause of why the light illuminated in the first place was not caused by an air filter that you replaced nor cleaning the battery terminals. You need to plug in a code reader and read codes. You can obtain a code reader for about $20 from amazon and yoiu can read the codes yourself in two minutes with no expertience needed.

First question - which belt are you referring to? Is this the a/c and power steering belt? Is this the water pump and alternator belt?
Each belt has a particular length requirement - make sure the belt overall length is correct for the application.
For example, the belt number lists the belt length in millimeters - the alternator water pump belt is '365' meaning 365 mm in length. The power steering and air conditioning belt is 470.

OK - just raise the hood and observe which belt is the problem. The power steering / air conditioning belt would be the belt routed from the power steering pump and a/c compressor.
The other belt is routed from the water pump (center of the engine) to the alternator. Need to know - first of all which belt is the one in question.
The next step would be to read the affected belt size - stamped / labelled on the belt itself. Remember, the size in millimeters is someplace in the belt part number. You will have to identify and know which belt is too tight and the belt size - in order to know what to do next.

Here are some websites to download copy the Mazda 626 repair manual -

      www.4shared.com/web/preview/doc/zp8EAlfd.
      Or...
      mazda-pdf.blogspot.com/2013/11/mazda-626-1999-service-manual-repair.html

The manual will help you determine the specific drive belt, belt routing and any other issues in concern.

If the timing belt was over adjusted, then the belt cords have been stretched. Meaning replace
the belt or it will make noise.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

You have to get to know your check engine light. Plug in a code reader and see what fault codes are set. Once you have a code you can post here I can help. Checking for codes cannot be skipped. You can obtain a code reader from amazon for about $20 and checking for codes takes a min ute or two with no experience needed as a mechanic. Now you know what to do.

I failed my smog twice for high NOX at 25mph, Replaced cat.
Was told my car is running lean, what does that mean and will putting the new cat on fix that problem?

Emission test failure diagnosis is NOT an exact science. That being said, NOX is controlled by the function of the EGR valve of which this engine has. Whoever the mechanic is has to be sharp enough to confirm that the EGR valve is receiving vacuum and opening and also confirm that the ports in the throttle body that flow the EGR gasses are not plugged up. In other words, because I mention EGR valve function is a cause for NOX failure does not mean that the DIY person simply has to go and buy an EGR valve and replace the part. The function still must be confirmed by someone in the know. That can be the car owner but it can't be done by a really green person. If it turns out that the EGR valve is functioning and no clogged ports yet you have only a NOX failure and HC and CO are within allowable limits, then the fix would be replacing the cat.
