Rear of car has dropped....just the rear.....air pump isn't working and i don't know how to check the fusemudman914 - 1994 Lincoln Town Car - Steering & Suspension - 4/5/2013-
4/5/2013 HouseCallAutoIn the underhood fuse panel over by the passenger side there is a 30 amp fuse that is labeled for the suspension. You will likely find this fuse burned and that is why the compressor is not turning on. Your cause is most likely to be that the rear air springs are leaking and it causes the compressor to turn on way too often to attempt to keep the car at the proper height. This causes the compressor to overheat and draw too much amperage and pops the fuse. It is likely that after the air springs are replaced that the problem will be solved. You can find the air springs or "rear air bags" online for pricing ranging from $100 a pair to more than $250 a pair so shop wisely. It takes about 1 to 2 hours to replace the air springs.

They're recommended by AutoMD.com - call / contact these repair shops in your area. -

3/23/2013 JimmIn this case - your options are pretty limited. One, you can inspect the vehicle yourself to determine the problem. Two, you can have the vehicle inspected and repaired locally - in the area you are in, when the repair shops are open for business. Three, you can try to find a friend or family member to help you out with the diagnosis and / or repairs needed.

Power steering fluid is leaking out the gearbox from the bottom seal how do I replace itcheech10610 - 1989 Lincoln Town Car - Steering & Suspension - 1/3/2013-
1/3/2013 rickIn most cases you can't replace just a seal in the gear box . This is how they sell you a complete gear box . Even if you could get the part # off the seal most stores don't have or can't get . Sorry -
1/3/2013 JimmTry the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. They (Rock Auto) list the steering gear box seal kit for around $9.00 for your vehicle. These seal kits - both the pitman arm, input shaft seal, and housing seals are available as separate items - no need to purchase the entire steering gearbox assembly.

I need information on installing a new power steering gearbox seal all my carcheech10610 - 1989 Lincoln Town Car - Steering & Suspension - 12/17/2012-
12/17/2012 JimmFairly simple task; first step, lock / hold the steering wheel in a central position.
Then, remove the large nut from the pitman arm.
Next, mark the pitman arm position on the splined shaft for the reinstallation in the same position.
Then, using a pitman arm puller - remove the pitman arm from the steering gearbox splined shaft.
Next, place an oil drain pan underneath the steering box to capture fluid. Then, using a self-tapping screw - penetrate the existing seal and pull out the seal from around the gearbox splined shaft - using a pair of pliers.
Place a film of transmission fluid on the new seal for lubrication and install the new seal (being careful of the direction) over the shaft. Tap until seated using a suitable size socket - maybe deep socket sized to just fit inside the steering gearbox diameter.
Reinstall the pitman arm on the spline in the correct position using the index mark. Install the pitman arm nut and torque to specifications.
