The recommended transmission service (per the vehicle maintenance manual) is for a fluid and filter replacement at every 100k miles. Of course, these mileage intervals can be modified - to be more frequent.

The transmission fluid and filter should be changed - not merely flushed - as the filter itself traps impurities which are removed from the transmission, when the old filter is discarded and the new clean fluid is added. This service is recommended and is superior to the transmission flush. Generally, avoid the transmission (and any automotive system) flush services when offered.

The transmission filter kit (filter and gasket) parts only (such as Fram FT1232) costs around $21.00 from these on-line auto parts sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.

I'm see if it's a common problem in these models and if there's a easy fix. Trying to buy this car.

Engine seems to run okay but car doesn't seem to want to shift from low gear to higher gear. This problem just happened
At highway speeds when going up a hill car doesn't seem to want to downshift into lower gear when I expect that it would do so. In other words, it seems to lug like hell so that I can barely make it to top of hill. It has been doing this for several months.

Need more information - what is the specific fault code? Please post a reply with the fault code from the OBD system for further assistance.

Most local auto parts stores can scan the OBD for any stored fault codes - for free. Then post a reply with this detail - as there are too many possibilities to list to cause the syptoms you have described. In order to save time and repair cost - the fault code retrieval is an absolute must have.

      Possible causes:
      - Low transmission fluid level
      - Dirty transmission fluid
      - Faulty shift solenoid valve
      - Shift solenoid valve harness or connectors
      - Shift solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted

Transmission slipping (drive) what could it be?
So when I let my car sit, and then start it up the next day and put it in drive I gotta wait a couple seconds and maybe Rev the engine a little bit to get it in drive. The thing is if my car has been driven and warmed up then the transmission will shift fine. Want ...

First step - check the transmission fluid level and refill as required to the proper level. If the fluid level is OK and the fluid condition is healthy - meaning both the filter and fluid has been changed regularly, then you will have to have the transmission diagnosed / tested

Car starts but has loss of power - runs at 40mph tops
had belts replaced a few months ago, could it possibly be belt problem?

Check the timing belt alignment. if the belt jumps a tooth or two it steals all power. I will assume that the engine runs seemingly smooth, just no power / pull that is strong and fails to go more than 40 mph?

Did this problem happen from one day to the next or what? Perfect one day and bad the next? Or was there a gradual loss of power over days ?

When I put my car in drive, it won't go forward, it'll reverse but not forward, at one point, it was doing the opposite
not sure my miles, but it's pretty high, 150,000..we had no major work on vehicle, our trans fluid use to leak all the time till we fixed that problem, car was running fine, now it won't drive, only reverse

1.Check the transmission forward linkage to see if it has been displaced.
      2. Check the transmission fluid level.
If all appears in order, then the transmission, then the forward planetary gear set is broken.
Visit this site and see the planetary gear set. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/
Scroll the screen almost to the bottom and you will see a planetary gear, it looks alike to a pencil rotating sharpener.
Note: it needs a new transmission.
