Why does the headlights and radio flicker when I step on the brakes?
Every time I step on the brakes, the radio hesitates for a second or two and my headlight dim down for the same one or two seconds.

Not enough to go on, however, if you can duplicate this issue with a volt meter hooked to the battery to see if something odd is happening with the charging system.

The indicator is NOT reliable. What is reliable is time. Your car is an '07. Batteries last 3 to 5 years on average. You need a battery. It is very degraded at this age of 6 + years. The fact that the car is only used on weekends actually shortens battery life.

    Air conditioning suddenly not working.
Hot air seems to be coming out of the a/c unit and around feet. If A/C is turned off usually I can enjoy the air outside on low - medium- or high (but it's still coming out warm.

If the system has a receiver/dryer check the eye glass for foamy freon which means it's low on refrigerant.Warm the engine to normal temp. place the a/c to coldest and the blower at the highest settings.Open the doors to be sure that the a/c does not cycle off as soon as it cools the passenger compartment. With the compressor engaged the clutch will make an audible click, inspect the sight glass and if the refrigerant looks foamy, it's low charge the system. If the refrigerant is clear, the compressor discharge line is warm and the inlet pipe is cool, the system is properly charged. If the system is low place a thermometer in the dash-board nearest to the evaporator and add refrigerant until the temperature is 40 to 45 deg.Generally the a/c temp. is 30 to 50 deg.cooler than the ambient temp.

It had happened with me while driving my work car on the freeway last year. It was quite a hot day and I had been driving for many hours at a stretch and it suddenly went kaput. After observation, we found out that the coolant levels were low and the cabin filter clogged. Many times radiator fluid is ignored by most people and they just check the refrigerant. Check all the given parameters and it should be good.

If my AC is working but just not very cold, does that mean I need to add antifreeze to the radiator? any specific type?

The radiator coolant (anti-freeze and water mixture) is a completely different system than the air-conditioning system.
The a/c system may just be low on the refrigerant charge; this is common - to have to add a slight amount of the R134a refrigerant periodically - perhaps every few years or cooling seasons - even with a properly operating a/c system.
Have the a/c system refrigerant charge level tested - usually most local a/c repair shops can perform a basic system performance test at little to no cost for you - check around in your area.

Why does my car squeal in reverse?
the vehicle has 180k. when cold, the car will make a grinding type noise when reversing and will immediately stop as the car is put in drive. after being driven for a while, the grinding noise will only come back on occasion until the next day.

Depends on whether the noise is coming from front or rear as to what it could be.A grinding noise is usually a wheel bearing hub assembly and metal on metal noise is brake pads/shoes.Brake pads/shoes have clips on em for a type of early warning system for failure.Only other thing on front would be a cv axle assembly

HOW DO I REMOVE HEADLIGHT LENS TO CLEAN

    • Jimm
      4/20/2013 Jimm
The headlamp lens is sealed (one piece) with the entire headlamp assembly and cannot be remove separately to clean.
To clean the exterior of the headlamp lens - use a clear plastic polish, such as Meguiar's PlastX (www.meguiars.com) cleaner formulated for clear plastic. Usually, this type cleaner costs around $5.00 - $7.00 per bottle at any local auto parts store or Wal-Mart.

You could try spraying a little WD-40 on the lens and wipe it down with a hand towel. It is like a little bit of magic just before your very eyes.

Why does my low beam light flicker on passenger side only

Several possibilities; loose bulb in the socket, loose wiring or connection on that side headlamp, faulty or loose headlamp assembly mounting.

There is a hum in the steering. What should be checked?
Then I turn the steering wheel there is a humming sound. What is needed?

At the least you have to check the power steering oil level. You did not mention that you checked it so that is my first suggestion.

This is a bad connection to the headlight bulb (loose or dirty) or it is a bad headlight bulb.

Car will not start and I only hear one firm click
i had to removed battery and case to replace spark plugs. I had battery checked and recharged. it came out good. turn the key to start and only get one loud click. help!

I suspect that you have an open circuit to the starter since you removed the battery and removed terminals from battery post. Check the connections at the positive terminal carefully. The loud click you hear might be coming from the starter solenoid and if there is no battery voltage in the big wire that goes to the starter (check it at the starter with a test light) then that confirms an open circuit out of the positive battery terminal.
