1/2/2012 Spoon SportsFirst try resetting the VSC by cycling the on-off button. It's located below the dash just about in line with your right knee. Feel around under there and you'll find two buttons about 2" apart. One resets the tire pressure warning (on my '04) and the other turns the VSC on and off. I can see the ABS/Wheel sensor causing problems for the VSC.
Instead of me guessing, getting it scanned would be a better idea, but some people not noticing any ill problems just drive with it and it just disappears. Of course, when it comes to brakes, i never gamble.

1998 lexus gs300 brakllight bulddon - 1998 Lexus GS300 - Brakes - 8/14/2011i have a 1998 lexus gs300 76000 mile.I changed the back breaklight bulb,One lens is turning white and the other light lens is red.Two new bulbs, but one lens is turning white. What caused this problem?

8/14/2011 JimmNot sure of the question; the light bulbs are clear, and the tail lamp lens is colored red or white - depending on if it's for the reverse position (white) or not. Check the transmission in the reverse position to insure the reverse light bulbs show 'white' at the tail light lens.

The brake lights work, but the tail lights don't. These are dual filament bulbs. 1. Monitor voltage at pin three of the solid Green wire at the tail lamp failure sensor with the taillight switch to the on position; 12 volts should be present. The light failure module is located in the left side of the trunk and has a 12 way connector.
2. At the tail and failure sensor, monitor pin 9, a Light Green wire, for battery voltage with the tail lights on.
3. Bypass the tail lamp failure sensor by jumping pins three to pin 9 to check operation of the tail lights. If they now work, replace the failure sensor. (good name for this sensor)
4. Check the White/Black pin 11 for a good ground.
5. Check all taillight bulbs to make sure they are correct and all are the same.
7/22/2011 DBurnsStep 5 was the first thing I did, thinking it might have been a circuit wiring, and one bulb out, failing the rest. Thanks a lot! I will try this and let you know if it works...
7/22/2011 DBurnsCan you give me a diagram of the pins by chance? I know they are top to bottom left to right, just like reading, but I want to be sure I'm bypassing with the correct wires. Don't have the money to replace the sensor, so I'm just going to splice in and rig it on. Thanks.

ABS light stays on. I just replaced the struts, but I don't think I did anything to the ABSTim - 1998 Lexus ES300 - Brakes - 7/16/2011I just repced all 4 complete strut and spring assemblies. Now my ABS light is on all the time. I never had a problem with the ABS and the system seems to be working OK. What should I check and what could be the problem?-
7/15/2011 yboy82First you should diagnose your vehicle with a scan tool capable of reading ABS trouble code to determine if there is a stored trouble code. It is possible that your ABS sensor is corroded/faulty and/or the wire connector is loose or disconnected.

7/15/2011 Spoon SportsFirst off, youre correct in stating the struts have nothing to do with it. However it can be that the ABS speed sensor has been disconnected. To tell you honestly, getting it scanned is the only way. Post the code here then we will give you our 2 cents worth

7/16/2011 HouseCallAutoYou most likely damaged a wheel speed sensor even though you think you didn't, you did. Either visually look for a problem with the sensor at each wheel or the wire leading to each sensor, or, have the vehicle scanned for ABS codes which will identify the wheel that has the problem and allow you to proceed to look at just one wheel and ignore the other 3. You will need an inexpensive code reader that is **able to read Toyota / Lexus ABS fault codes++ or you can pay a local shop to read them for you.
