      Something mechanical is causing it to freeze up. I would disconnect the cable from the selector lever on the transmission and see that the lever moves freely. if it does then you know the cable is the cause.

      Well first thing is to check the bulbs and make sure it is not the bulbs first. if the bulbs are fine and there is no power getting to the bulb sockets then check the fuse for that circuit. next if the fuse checks out okay is to check the switch for the reverse lights now the switch is either part of the shifter or is part of the neutral safety switch depending on the vehicle and I am not sure on the sportage but most vehicles it is the neutral safety switch that contains the switching mechanism for the reverse lghts.

      You could have an internal damage and the possible causes of this are; Intermediate band adjustment incorrect. Intermediate band seal or piston damaged. Intermediate band friction element or lever rod damaged. Direct clutch drum damaged, outer diameter out of specification. Main control assembly gaskets damaged or bolt out of torque. Main control separator plate damaged. Main control solenoid stuck or damaged. Bring the car to a shop to correct the problem before it get worst. It is possible. Did you already check the condition of your battery (voltage, amperage, state of charge) and its terminals/cables? How old is your battery? Battery’s life is only 3yrs – 5 yrs only and its performance will deteriorate.

    My Kia Sorento will die while running. There are no noises or any indication the car will die, the engine just quits.
    The 4x4 Low light is on as well as the Check Engine Light. The dtc codes I got were p0700 and p1795. After shutting off, the car will start back up about an hour after it has died. I am just trying to get an estimate on the repair costs, I don't want to get ...

      Replace the crankshaft position sensor. Probability of success is greater than 75%. The 4WD light is a separate issue which has these 3 things as potential causes.>>

      1. Check the 20 amp TCCS fuse and the 10 amp ENG fuse.

      2. Disconnect the position encodes and see if the four wheel drive indicator lamp will flash a code with the key on. If it doesn't, check the powers and grounds at the transfer case control unit.

      3. Check at the electronic shift transfer (EST) switch for a reference voltage at the Green/Orange wire and the Blue/Orange wire with the connector unplugged. Check for a good ground at the Black wire. Plug the switch back in and the switch should ground the Green/Orange wire in two wheel drive and the Blue/Orange wire in four wheel low. When it is in four wheel high, neither wire should be grounded.
      Potential Causes:
      4WD Transfer Case Shift Control Switch
      Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM)
      Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) Wiring

      P1795 Transfer High/Low Switch Malfunction - With Automatic Transmission
      Possible Causes S

      * L4 switch connector is damaged (check pins for damage, and for moisture)
      * L4 switch circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to voltage
      * L4 switch has failed
      * TCM has failed
