Change fuel filter or just a flush?
The fuel filter and pump is in the fuel tank, So i plan on getting a fuel flush from jiffy lube at 100k. That is supposed to clean the fuel filter, so would I really need to replace it if I just did a fuel flush? Thank you!!

My car fell while I was trying to remove a tire, now I can't get the tire out. What can I do?
Okay, I was changing my tire with a regular scissor jack, but on my tilted driveway. I forgot how important in was to have a leveled surface. So I lifted the car enough to start pulling the tire off, and the movement made the jack start tilting back. I couldn't get ...

it should be fine over night just a good floor jack will get it back up in the air if you are not able to get on a pinch weld like the scissor jack is ment to do try for bottom shock mount or lower controll arm mount they will be strong enough to push on find some blocks of wood so if it falls on the way up you and your car dont get hurt.

Typical cost to replace timing belt?
Vehicle has over 60,000 miles. Last service recommended timing belt changed. How much does this typically cost? Is there any other work that should be done while timing belt is being replaced?

The timing kit itself is inexpensive; check the various on-line parts vendors; www.partsgeek.com, www.RockAuto.com,etc. They (RockAuto) list the timing kit - with water pump from around $174.00 for your vehicle.

You can figure at least $200-$300.00 for the labor cost.

Always replace the water pump at the same time as these other timing kit components: Water Pump, Timing Belt ,TB Tensioner, TB Idler Pulley, TB Adjuster, Timing Cam Gear.

Several possibilities; faulty alternator, loose/worn serpentine drive belt, worn drive belt tensioner, wiring / connection corroded or loose - especially the negative ground connection opposite the battery.

Have the charging system tested for free - at any local auto parts store.

splash guard or splash cover, the internet doesn't really seem to come up with a definitive name, but it's right under the engine.

The cover is a dealership item, though it may also be available locally in salvage yards.

Do I reaaly need a timing belt replacement
The local KIA dealer is telling me that my KIA Rondo timing belt is out ouf warranty & it should be replaced before it breaks - that if it breaks, it will cause the pistons to batter the valves (e.g. an "interference" engine). Are they BSing me?

No, this is a serious issue. If you delay too much on a timing belt replacement, specifically on an interference engine, catastrophic internal engine damage may occur.

In an interference engine, the valves occupy the same space as the pistons. Your timing belt is what keeps a balance in the mechanical timing within your engine..... The crankshaft rotates the camshaft, which opens and closes the valves. If the timing belt breaks, if you were on the freeway for example, here's what would happen. You're driving along and all the sudden your engine stalls. You pull to the side of the road with your hazards on and try to start up again. Only this time you try and something isn't right. Cranking over the engine doesn't sound normal. It's a faster spinning and higher pitch whining than you're used to compared to the lugluglug when you start your car in the morning.

Essentially what has happened is that, since you have an interference engine, the valves are all bent up. When a timing belt breaks in this type of engine, the momentum of the crankshaft will continue from combustion from the last several cylinder combustions. The crankshaft will continue to rotate while the camshaft has stopped. The pistons will continue to rise upwards with catastrophic force and speed and contact the valve(s) that are still open. The result is that valves have been bent, and sometimes holes have been blown into the pistons. Repairs at a machine shop would cost upwards of $3000 to repair the damage.

So yes, timing belt intervals, specifically on an interference engine, are EXTREMELY important. If the belt breaks you may as well look for a new car to buy since it usually costs more than the car is worth.

This does not really answer the question : I wany to hear from an authoritative source if my 2009 Kia Rondo 2.4L IS OR IS NOT an interference engine. The owners manual says for a 2.7L 6 cyl to have the CHAIN replaced at 60km, but says NOTHING about the 4 cyl's belt (which I have). How do I verify if the dealor is correct or BSing me?

It turns out that the 2.4L 4 cyl has a timing chain, not a timing belt. This info from another forum.

Timing chains can stretch over time. There is usually less stress on chains when you change you oil every 3k. If it was my vehicle and you take care of it, I would say 120-150k range to replace it.
