First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.
Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

okay so far i changed oil pressure switch($9.00),oil control valve($180.00),ocv filter($12.00),knock sensor($15.00)another oil and filter change using the much heavier 20w50($38.00),car still runs fine but still ticking tocking with oil light and code comes back on(p0012).the car now has to sit til i save up enough to have the engine checked. so any next good guess?

okay heres the real deal. after replacing the ocv and ocv filter and using motor flush with the 20w50 oil etc,i let the car sit while i figure out which shop i will have to bring it to when i get some money.well one day i started it up and the check engine ligt was gone.it sounded alittle better although still ticking.so i added some lucas hd oil stabilizer and i was stunned.the car runs perfect.i gave it alittle test run and :no oil light, no ck engine light and the car is so quiet i barely kno

A code P0012 refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module, also called an ECM).

That consists of a few different components but the P0012 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is over-retarded, the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft. Potential Symptoms Most likely a P0012 DTC will result in one of the following: hard starting poor idle and/or stalling There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates.
