      The check engine light doesn't have to be ON to store a fault code.

      Check the vehicle for fault codes to see if there are any sensors were involved to the malfunction of the engine.

      1.Local auto parts stores such as Autozone ( not in California) or Advance Auto parts or Pep Boys will scan and retrieve any diagnostic trouble codes ( dtc ) stored in the powertrain control module for free of charge..

      2. Amazon.com has the code reader for less than $19.00 dollars + shipping
      Autel MaxiScan MS300 CAN Diagnostic Scan Tool for OBDII Vehicles

      3.Re-post the dtc's in here " answer question " for further assistance.

      Note: we need the dtc's to identify the sensor, there are a dozen different ELECTRONIC sensors to operate the car.

    My 06 jeep liberty does not seem to engage into park. My key release will not work. However, the vehicle shifts fine.
    The vehicle shifts fine but does not go into park.

    All gages go from one extreme to the other and transmission stops pulling. let up on gas and gages go back for a min.
    Gages act like there is an electrical issue. I don't know where to start to solve this issue.

      i would say a loose or shorted wire that brings power up to ecu and trans on the gas the engine pulls to one side that what i think. is their any codes

    Auto transmission downshift problems

    Auto transmission; downshifting problem from 2nd back to 1st
    going normal speed been in 2nd or 3d gear come to stop sign and vehicle jerks almost goes dead, gear downshifts to 1st and then motor revs back up to normal. this does not happen unless the trans has changed into 2nd. fluid is good - other suggestions?

    When you try and start you have to jam the shifter back and forth on an auto transmission
    After you jam it back in park, it starts.

      check to safe starter switch on the transmission . the safe switch is so the car cannt be started in drive

    Transmission when ever i start my jeep i get a klunking noise not all the time only sometimes does anyone no what it is
    is the torque converter suppose to touch the flexplate after its tightened sometimes when i start my jeep it makes an awful klunking noise

    also when I put the 4 Will Dr. on it will not activate I believe I'm having a vacuum leak somewhere what is the easiest way of finding a vacuum leak?

      Make sure the engine is cool and start up the jeep and spray carb. Cleaner on ths vaccum hoses if it revs up or dies down .... you found your leak .. carb cleaner is flammable so be careful keep away from exhaust
