You've locked the steering wheel. Take the steering wheel and turn it to the left as hard as you can and turn the key at the same time. If you can get the pressure off the steering wheel lock the key will turn and free the steering wheel. I've had this happen to me., If it had locked while trying to turn right then you would have to turn it to the right.

Would a bad tie rod end cause a wheel bearing to go bad?
I had a shop replace my ball joints and wheel bearings. They said my tie rod ends needed to be replaced, but I said that I could do those myself. Admittedly I took my time getting around to it, and now a month later, my wheel bearing is bad. Is this a part failure ...

Most steering wheels have a lock position, when you park it. It's part of the security system, if you will. Can rotate the steering wheel a little, one way or the other. While holding pressure on the steering wheel, can you rotate the key from the lock position?

I have a 13 Nissan, my key does the same thing with the steering wheel in the lock position. The key won't turn, I can pull the steering wheel a little even in lock position, that releases my key. I need to take it back to dealership. At the moment, I just don't lock my steering wheel. Good luck with that.

You spread oil under the wheels and on the steering arm? If the suspension components are sealed, then the application of any oil or grease is of no help to cure the noise.

Need more information - when is the noise heard? Does the sound change with road speeds or conditions? Use the 'Diagnose' feature on the AutoMD website to help identify and diagnose the issue you are having.

Humming sound noticeably on the right of the front end. The sound speeds up and gets louder with acceleration.
I am considering purchasing a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with 144k miles, 1 owner, $4200. I test drove it today and the only issue appeared to be a very noticeable whirring/humming sound on the right side of the front end. I was told it could just be the wheel bearing or ...

Yes, most likely related to worn / faulty hub bearing assembly. Be sure to replace both sides due to mileage / age / wear considerations. Given the individual parts cost for the hub assembly at approximately $13.20 each, plus the sealed wheel bearing at some $33.00 each - without the repair labor - you might negotiate the vehicle asking price down by say some $200.00 - 300.00 to cover the cost.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the front hub from around $13.00 and the wheel bearing from around $33.00 each for your vehicle.

In my area, many mechanics will give a car a thorough "once-over" for a $100...I would never buy a car without spending that $100 first...see if you can get a mechanic to inspect it...ask the seller to drive it there...expense is on you...meet them there and give them a ride home too...

My cv joints have clicking on that same tire prior to the pothole. What are the possibilities of what could be making that rattling sound?

Several possibilities; faulty / loose or corroded battery terminal, faulty / loose / corroded battery cable connection - opposite the battery (especially check the negative ground connection), faulty / loose wiring or connection at the alternator.

Start with the battery terminals and the battery cable connections - be sure these are clean and tight with no corrosion - at both ends. Next, check the alternator and wiring / connections - as recommended.

Then, check the fuses (with the battery disconnected) to make sure the fuses and relays are plugged in tight and not loose or corroded. Finally, have the battery and electrical (charging) system tested - for free - at any local auto parts store in your area.
Post a reply with the results from all these recommendations for further assistance.

Twice in the last month all of the lights on my dashboard have come on and I have lost all power to my car. Why is that?
My car has 68,000 miles on it and both times that this has happened it has been 30 degrees or less outside. The first time it was after a snow storm and the car was not started for 2 days. When the lights on the dash come on I have no control over the steering, ...
