      Hello
It is possible that your transmission cooler in the radiator has failed, leaking coolant into the transmission. This will cause a milky appearance. The transmission fluid will need to be completely replaced and hope that the transmission is not ruined. Transmission shifting is determined by sensor inputs to the TCM ,engine RPM and vehicle speed etc Hope this helps.

There is water in the trans. Having said that, water will disintegrate the seals and clutch papers. You can have the trans flushed and you may get lucky and it be OK, but I wouldn't count on it. The downshifting is controlled by the trans.

My question is, I have a 1997. Honda Civic Ex... It will start up and then shut off!! What's the problem???!
It's starts then shuts off . In the summer it never did it but now it's winter and its going crazy . I gave it to an auto body shop and then didn't find the problem because it didn't act up in front of them, only with me!!!!

Probable bad ignition switch, electrical portion only.
      HouseCallAuto
      11/1/2012 gbaby
Yea but everybody I take it too can't figure it out because it doesn't happen in front of them; they say its not a battery thing because it actually comes back on . It could either be a computer glitch, it needs cleaning in some area like its clogged so it chokes OR its just a cold nature car which is absurd
    • HouseCallAuto
      11/2/2012 HouseCallAuto
Just have the ignition switch replaced and you have a high probability of solving what you detailed here.

Ok thank you. But if its the ignition switch, how come it acts up sometimes but not always . It's weird
      HouseCallAuto
      11/2/2012 HouseCallAuto
The ignition switch on Honda vehicles is a pattern failure during the 90's and the #1 symptom is stalling while driving and a start and stall. You *may* find that if you keep the key turned forward ever so slightly (not enough to keep the starter engaged) that the engine often continues to run. This is not always but very often.

Does a front-seal transmission fluid leak have to be repaired if there are no other issues and I keep it full of fluid?
The van has 126,000 miles There are no current transmission function issues. I am about to drive cross-country, possibly hauling a trailer.

I hate to say but the question your asking is a loaded one . But here we go . This is only what I think ! First how bad is the leak ? Can you keep up on the oil in it ? Also pulling a trailer the oil will get even hotter and thinner and maybe want to leak faster . Next is where is the leaking oil going and how much ? It's blowing back under your car . If I remember right that is where the HOT muffler and tail pipe is . Catch on fire ? Maybe . And also what does it cost to fix right now at home ? Out on the road at some shop that will never see you again the price might be 5 X's that . I won't say don't drive it but I will say be ready for the worst too .

You don't want to be on the side of the road in the middle of no-where with a blown front seal (i.e. no forward or reverse). Get it fixed now before you go.

My 2003 Honda accord will vibrate when I accelerate anywhere between 30 and 60 mph. What do I need to do?
My foot on the gas will vibrate as well as the steering wheel. Not necessarily shaking, but a vibration feeling. It doesn't feel like a smooth drive.

What have you tried ? Things like balance the tires or rotate them . That should be the first steps . After that and if it keeps doing it then we look at things like a bad wheel bearing or a CV joint going bad . Start simple and work your way up .

Yes I would have to agree with Rick. I had a similar symptoms with a Honda Odyssey van. It ended up being both inner joints were worn on each axle. Make sure you use new Honda OEM axles.
      Hope this helps.

I have a bearing noise coming from my manual transmission. I get the noise with clutch engaged and vehicle rolling. ???
I replaced the clutch about a year ago, but the noise showed up about 6 months later. When I push in the clutch the noise goes away. I can here the noise through every gear at this point. I even hear it if the clutch is disengaged and the vehicle is rolling.

You should start by replacing the rear differential fluid( Dual Pump Fluid) You simply drain it and refill it. You will want to do this procedure on a hoist. You may need to replace it twice. You do also want to check the towing capacity of your CRV before you continue to tow with it.
      Hope this helps you (:

How do I check the transmission fluid when it is incased? How do I know its low or needs changing?
It started to skip last month when I excelerated or when I put it in gear, is this due to the lack of fluid or something more serious?

The trans fluid needs to be checked with the vehicle running on a hoist. Has two plugs in pan, when the one at the top of the pan is removed there should be a trickle of fluid coming out. Do not remove the plug on the very bottom of the pan. I do not think that the transmission fluid is your issue. Is the check engine light on? Hope I helped

The check engine light has been on for at leaset 3 yrs now. I took it to get serviced as my gas gage wasn't working either but was told both are sensor problems & it would cost me more to get them fixed than to just watch my temp gage & go off mileage on the gas guage.
