    Why does my engine have a rough idle until it reaches 2000 rpm
    Mileage 184,866. Engine feels like it's missing or has a dead cylinder on acceleration until it reaches 2000 rpm. Happens when hot & no engine light is on.

      First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

      Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

      Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
      Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
      Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
      Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
      Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
      Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
      Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

      Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

      I believe your noise may be related to this repair that was done with the water pump / belt / tensioner. The tranny fluid being overfull a quart wouldn't do anything and if it is more than a quart I have no data on that.

    Idles very rough, surges
    when I'm at a stop, if I shift into neutral, the idle smoothes out immediately

      Has plugs, wires cap and rotor been replaced yet? If not do so. Also replace the O2 sensor. Then update.

      No the sensor just reports the position to the ECU. The actuator is turned by the vacuum actuator on the other end of the manifold.. I would replace the actuator if a P1077 is stored but better pay attention to installation detail. Lots of mechanics install it wrong and end up with the same code.

    Where does my o2 sensor plug in?
    i had code 41, o2 heater sensor failure, so i went to change it only to realize that it wasnt plugged into anything at all, and i searcherd high and low all day today and couldnt find where to plug it in, help!!!

      There are two (2) O2 sensors; one each upstream and downstream of the catalytic converter. Each sensor has its own connector - there will be a wiring harness / pigtail group of at least two or three wires to each individual sensor on the exhaust system.
      It could be that the O2 sensor connector is simply missing / damaged - the wiring pigtail is available in the aftermarket as a separate item.
      The parts are readily available; try these on-line sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities. In fact they (PartsGeek) list the O2 sensor pigtail and connector from around $8.00 for your vehicle.

      There are no rules here. You use whatever you have. Since I cannot know exactly what will not move because I cannot see it, I do know that whatever it is it is made of composite materials and tools can overcome composite materials that have melted / become stuck / whatever. If you mean that you removed the hold down retaining bots and the coil will not move up well then you pry it up with a screwdriver.

      It is right on the top of the right side of the engine on the top of intake manifold. Very easy job.

    Whats wrong when my car is ..Leaking water and running hot.
    Heard a hose blow on the backside of engine and since then I leak water. Running or dead stop if I add water it just leaks out.

      Repair / replace the leaking hose. Refill the cooling system and the overheating problem will be resolved.

    Starter makes grinding metal sound when cold
    44k miles. first start of day the starter makes a grinding sound. Turn off ignition and start again=no problem. doesn't happen for rest of day but then again when engine is cold.

      The flywheel has a few damaged teeth. Remove the starter and visually examine all the teeth a few teeth at a time. When you find the damaged one (it will be evident) use a file to clean it up / dress them smoothing out mushroomed edges and see if that helps. A new starter should also be installed at this time. You may only have one shot at avoiding replacing the flywheel by reshaping the damaged teeth so be patient doing it. If the teeth are really bad it may not help but try it.

      The cooling fan is not working. There is a cooling fan sensor / switch mounted near the distributor less than one inch away from where the radiator hose attaches.

    When I turn off engine and try to lock doors with remote entry key, the horn goes off continuously for about 20 seconds.
    It stops for 2 secs and goes off again

      Try disconnecting the neg battery terminal for a minute and then reconnect to re-boot ECM then get back with us. Remote control system may need to be re=programmed if this doesn't work.
