it is either silanoids or your trans control module you can google how to test the silanoids it's not a bad job to test them especially with what parts cost now the best place i have found transmission parts is transtarindustries.com

You can use a 700R4 transmission out of a Chevrolet S10 with a 2.8L. This should bolt right in and you would not have to change anything but maybe the plug for the lock up converter.
The 700r4 transmission does not use the PCM, so no need to rewire or change any of the electricals in the car. You may have to move the cross member back about 1 inch to make room for the trans mount, and you will need to have a new drive shaft made as the 700 is longer the the 3l30 in the tracker now, but the yoke should be the same, you just need to have the drive shaft shortened.

Why does my car make a loud clunking sound when driving and turning?
My 97' Prizm with 115,000 miles makes a loud clunking noise while driving and while making a left turn. It's hard to steer though the turn because the steering wheel wants to yank to the right. The vehicle was doing the same thing, in neutral, while being towed by ...

Several possibilities; faulty / worn CV joint and halfshaft assembly, faulty / worn transmission. I'd inspect the CV joint and driveshaft as first step - especially since the problem seems related to the steering.

Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the CV joint / halfshaft assembly from around $40.00 each side for your vehicle.

While driving my car makes a very bad whining noise. like a bearing going out. but no clue what bearing it is
96000 miles. checked wheel bearings both are good. also checked fluid and it is good. also only happens when i am driving. when it is just sitting at idle it doesn't make the noise.

When hot, Tracker won't go into Reverse. After cooling off, it does fine. Ideas?
This auto tranny seems sluggish, takes a long time to shift into next gear (4-spd.). When parked after running awhile, it won't go into Reverse. We just bought it used, has 194k miles. Would changing fluid/filter help, or is it a more involved issue? Why doesn't ...

eveybody keeps saying it's junk without even a look,I was told it may be the nuetral reverse sensor for which I',m going to a tranny shop today to find out thanks for your input clyde,I was also told without a look see that the bands were junk how can someone diagnose something without testing it ,thanks housecall guy but it still goes in drive great there's no clunking or any kind of noises

I'm fixing cars for 36 years. I have seen transmissions lose reverse function a hundred times. I have never ever seen anything but a new transmussion solve this no reverse. For your sake I hope your car is the exception. There is no electrical switch that controls reverse.

Why does my car make a "clunk" noise after I've accelerated and then release the pedal?
My car has about 160,000 miles on it, which I've been told is about the time that the U-joints start to wear. I've been living in the mountains, so the extreme temperatures here definitely could've contributed. I've never really had any problems with the car ...
