Hey Bill, is the "starter solenoid relay" located in/on the starter?

Get access to the starter. With neg battery cable still removed, remove the small wire from the starter motor and don't let it touch anything or pit a piece of electrical tape over the end. Now reconnect the battery cable long enough to see if the starter still runs with the key out. If it still runs, replace the shorted starter, if it does not run now it means that the starter relay is stuck engaged (manual trans only)

Check the many on-line parts sources; such as www.RockAuto.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, or www.autopartsfair.com.
For example, they (RockAuto) list the steel fuel line repair kit; Dorman part # 55180 (Inlet & Outlet; Steel Line Gasket - 3/8" x M16-1.50) from around $7.00 for your vehicle.

Why won't my radiator cooling fans kick on?
vehicle has 105000 miles. I have replaced the relay and the fan switch.

    • Jimm

The radiator cooling fans not operating is due to several possibilities; faulty cooling fan switch (temperature sensor), faulty fan relay, faulty fan fuse or wiring / connections to the cooling fans, faulty cooling fan motor.

As a diagnosis and first step run a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to the radiator fan motor - to see if the motor operates. If yes, then suspect the wirning / connection, fuse or relay in the circuit. If the motor still does not operate with the 12V supply direct, then suspect the radiator fan motor is faulty.

Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the radiator fan motor from around $25.00 and the radiator fan assembly (includes shroud, motor and blade) from around $33.00 for your vehicle.

If there is no spark (you have to check because I can't) then your cause is a bad ignition coil or a bad distributor (can be either or). Most techs just buy a new distributor because it comes with a new coil in it already along with all the other internal components that can cause this no start. if it has spark then you have a different cause.

You must begin the diagnosis with measuring battery voltage. A healthy battery should be between 12.4 -12.6 . Hard starts in cold are most likely battery related.

Your car should be equipped with a crank sensor. You must ensure that the sensor is receiving the 5 volt supply and it's alternating the output between 0 to 5 volts. That should get you started on you diagnosis.

      1. Disconnect the fuel pump connector near the fuel tank, check for fuse to still blow or not.

      2. If now OK, replace the fuel pump.

      3. If same, check the Blue/Black wire and the Pink/Black wire for a short to ground.

      4. If the tank was removed to replace the fuel pump, I would suspect that the wires leading to the fuel pump may have been crushed and shorted being caught between th tank and the chassis. Check it.

Oil leaking from timming cover, removed cannot tell exactly where it's actually leaks, removed belt tensioner still nothin
Is it possible water pump could be at fault, that's where it seems to be falling from,I'm unfamiliar with this engine as far as oil leaks go,I know it's a seal, gasket,or O'ring, but cannot see,any HELP on this?

Several possibilities; camshaft seal leak, front cover gasket leak, timing cover seal (round seal that prevents oil from leaking around the harmonic balancer).

Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the timing cover gasket set from around $10.00 and the camshaft seal from around $2.00 for your vehicle.

Also, to gain familiarity with your engine and it's design - obtain a repair manual; local library auto reference section, or these websites; www.manualspace.com or diyrepairmanuals.com.

Need more information - what is meant by 'my engine is blinking'? Are you referring to the check engine light? If yes, check the vehicle for fault codes to see if there are any sensors were involved to the malfunction of the engine.

1.Local auto parts stores such as Autozone ( not in California) or Advance Auto parts will scan and retrieve any diagnostic trouble codes ( dtc ) stored in the powertrain control module for free of charge..

      2. Amazon.com has the code reader for less than $20.00 dollars.

3.Re-post the dtc's in here " answer question " for further assistance.

Note: we need the dtc's to identify the sensor, there are a dozen different sensors to operate the car.

Visit this site and see all the different sensors.
