The truck will turn all kinds of RPM'S and not shift into second until you let off the fuel. It then shifts fine into third and fourth. When shifting from first to second after letting off the fuel, if you push the fuel to hard it will down shift back into first. I ...

Why does my transmission slip when downshifting going up hill?
While towing a trailer up hill if the truck needs to downshift the engine revs up and the transmission slowly goes into the lower gear. There is no noticable loss of speed or power.

mileage 150000...had transmission flushed and all sensors checked

Actually, GM products use a "lock up" torque converter rather than an overdrive in the transmission on automatics...it accomplishes the same thing, but in a different way.

There is a tiny valve in the transmission case called a TCC solenoid (torque converter control) that may be faulty, or the torque converter itself may be the culprit.

Check first your clutch components (torque converter if you have an automatic tranny).

If you have an automatic then there is a good chance that you are low on transmission fluid. If you have a manual transmission and none of the gears do anything then you have a clutch problem.

My truck keeps setting engine light on saying tcc/od soleniod is bad. Had it replaced and still comes on and not fixed
When driving down the road at 45 to 55, the rpm bounce up and down. The compute keeps giving the code of p1740. I had it replaced wih new one and did not fix the probem. Light comes right backon

      Automatic Transmission
Some transmissions may set a code P1740, torque converter fault. There's a revised transmission pressure boost valve cover plate to fix this problem.

There is one solenoid assy with two solenoids on it. One for the TCC and other for OD. in my experience, P1740 is caused by a couple of things. The torque converters are a subject of trouble for one - I always replace them - the other are the input sealing rings on the input shaft. Older designs leak pressure. Always replace with the plastic - end type which is the update today.
