You have to use a double flaring tubing set, this is not optional, it is required. Remove the leaking tubing by cutting the tubing beyond the rusted through and leaking area and fabricate a new line using the double flaring kit you will have to buy for about $30. A 25' roll of 3/16" brake line is about $20 and various flare unions and flare nuts may add another $10. Depending on where the tubing is leaking and how long a piece you are replacing, this job can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to complete. You may find a how to video on YouTube, try search YouTube for "rusted brake line repair"

If I have already bled the brakes, what else could be causing a soft brake pedal?
Brakes work fine if I push suddenly or with more abrupt force but if I have been slowing down holding the brake for about 5 seconds and then try to come to a complete stop the brake pedal sinks to the floor and I loose majority of my brake power until I release it ...

Several possibilities; air in the brake system, air in the master cylinder, leaking brake system - check the calipers and wheel cylinders for fluid leakage.

I'll assume for the sake of this question that you have already replaced the brake pads. This time when you buy new pads, buy the pads at the dealer using genuine Chrysler pads and replace the rotors also. The rotors need not be from Chrysler.

Fairly simple task. First step, raise and support the rear of the vehicle (using jack stands) to gain access. Then, remove the rear hose connections - one at a time - from the abs unit to each rear wheel. Use a line or fitting wrench to properly grip the hose connections.
The hoses may be held or supported by clips to prevent damage from rubbing. The installation is the reverse of the removal.
Be sure to refill the brake master cylinder with clean brake fluid, and bleed the brake system to remove residual air.
Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.RockAuto.com or www.autopartswarehouse.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (Rock Auto) list the flexible rear brake hose for around $6.00 for your vehicle.

Some brake pad designs do not use the anti-rattle clips. Instead, you may use some anti-rattle gel or paste applied to the brake pad metal backing plate.

First, check the fuse 11 ( 40 A ) and fuse 3 ( 10 A ), then the light bulbs and their sockets. Use a Digital Multimeter to measure if there is 12 volts when the brake was applied. ( no results go to next ).

      See this picture Stoplight Switch
      For your 2001 Dodge Truck RAM 2500 3/4 ton 2WD 5.9L SFI 8cyl

Stoplight switch directs current to the stop lights, cruise control, and shift interlock to turn them on or off
When not replaced, stop lights will run continually or not function, potentially causing premature bulb failure, safety issues and/or the transmission will not shift out of park.

is it a grinding sound? chances are you need a new set of pads. three years is a good run for a set of brake pads. they arent hard to change and there not that expensive.
