How bad are the brake pads. If they are worn out, it could be rubbing the sensor. If they are not worn, one of the sensors could be bad.

Well, do you feel any drag in the car because that is the only way brake pads gets worn out quickly. If its a rear proportioning valve problem, the calipers are on the recieving end of it so i doubt its the valves.

Id go immediately in checkling the caliper. Also, dont buy cheap pads, what you pay is what you get

sounds like the master cylinder has a failed seal between the two chambers inside the cylinder and is needs changing ,this is nothing to do with bleeding or the fact you changed the pads ,sometiimes in cases like this they just fail .

Is it better to replace to whole master cylinder instead?
      colin
      4/11/2012 colin
yes ,i know i can rebuild them but the problem is buying the kit??? they do sell them anymore in my local motor factor ,also a problem i get with vehicles from northern europe where it rains a lot more is the fact that the brake fluid is hydroscopic ,it absorbs moisture so the moisture in the brake fluid causes internal corrosion ,the pedal seems hard under foot but once the engine starts then the servo puts a lot more pressure on the master cylinder causing the tandem seal inside to fail no dod
      colin
      4/11/2012 colin
doubt caused by corrosion in the cylinder wall which in turn is a combination of wear and absorbation of moisture into the fluid

When I move in reverse it sounds like something is cracking or metal is dropping in the front left tire.
The right tire is making a thumbing noise when driving. Today it sounded like a horse clapping down the road. Pulled tire off and I see no physical issues with steering components. Wondering if it could be something inside the joint where the rotor lies.

Why did my brakes stop working after I jumped another car?
I used faulty cables to jump start a car. The negative cable was place on a line on my car that may have gone to the brakes (there is not a negative post, the battery is in the trunk). The cables sparked and smoked and then my brakes stopped working. The car will ...

Your electronics probably shorted. The weird thing is though, when ABS fails, its just the system that shuts down but you can still brake normally (without abs assistance of course).

Im sorry but this needs dealership attention. I doubt recalibration is the answer here. When something like that happens, something got fried and replacing it is usually the way to go.

Then again, i can be wrong.

Could be tires! Have you taken turns at a high rate of speed? Reason is, Your tires start out round but when taking turns at a high rate of speed they become egg shaped. when you drive fast you dont notice it until you slow down or stop then start again. Two fixes, New tires or hopefully take turns at high speed in the other direction, to roundout tires.

ABS light on means that your Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is not working properly. You can still use the brakes just fine, you just dont have the additional protection of anti-lock. This is not an emergency but you should have it looked at soon.
TRAC OFF means your vehicles automatic traction control system is not working, Again, you can still drive fine, you just dont have the additional protection of traction control during extreme manuevers. This is not an emergency, have it looked at when convienant.
I bet that the problem lies in a wheel speed sensor. These sensors are located on each wheel and determine how fast it is rotating. Your vehicle's computer compares all the wheel speeds to see if they are always equal. If the wheel speeds are not right, the vehicle will engage the ABS system or the traction control as neccesary.
In a nutshell, these two systems help the driver maintain control of the vehicle more easily during emergency stops or emergency manuevers. You can still drive with both systems disabled, but you will not have their help if you get into trouble and may make you less able to avoid an accident.
Check the wheel speed sensors, I bet one or more have gone bad, a shop should be able to replace one for $150 or less, if you are mechanically inclined you can do it y0urself for the price of the sensor ($15-$50)

Thanks.....so a bad sensor would cause both to come on at the same time?....how do you figure out if a sensor is bad?

Usually a scan will verify it. Try this, go to a shop and get an agreement that if the sensor you bought doesnt fix it, they wikll give you a refund.

Check the voltage at the stop light bulb socket with the pedal depressed. With the pedal depress it should register voltage. You can use test light also.

Before you replace the brake rotor you should check it first to verify if the rotor are really at fault.
