Break lights don't workcjmartin - 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 - Brakes - 6/28/2012No break lights when break pedal pressed-
6/28/2012 CVOFirst, check the fuse 11 ( 40 A ) and fuse 3 ( 10 A ), then the light bulbs and their sockets. Use a Digital Multimeter to measure if there is 12 volts when the brake was applied. ( no results go to next ).

Stoplight switch directs current to the stop lights, cruise control, and shift interlock to turn them on or off
When not replaced, stop lights will run continually or not function, potentially causing premature bulb failure, safety issues and/or the transmission will not shift out of park.

6/21/2012 jlofwashis it a grinding sound? chances are you need a new set of pads. three years is a good run for a set of brake pads. they arent hard to change and there not that expensive.

6/11/2012 JimmMost likely the ABS control unit itself is faulty up and not releasing the pressure. You can try disconnecting the electric signal to the unit, the ABS light will be on but this is to check it. Drive a little then try the brakes. If they still lock up then the ABS unit should be replaced.
Try the many on-line auto parts sources,such as; www.RockAuto.com or www.autopartswarehouse.com for the replacement parts.

6/11/2012 JimmAre the front brakes locked? If yes, check these items; disc brake caliper (frozen or corroded), contaminated brake fluid, faulty flexible brake hose to one or more front caliper.
6/11/2012 JAS4 tires locked ABS light is on...2 front brakes were changed...and still locked...purged the system to clear fluids also -

Five stud rotor.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper.
Remove the retainers on the wheel studs and remove the rotor. If stuck, the rotor can be freed with a light duty puller or a plastic mallet. Do NOT use excessive force.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
Ram (8-Stud Rotor)
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel.
Remove the hub extension.
Remove the brake caliper assembly.
Remove the axle nut cotter pin. Remove the axle nut.
Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor wire from under the hood. Remove the sensor wire from the frame and steering knuckle, if equipped.
Back off the hub/bearing mounting bolts 1 / 4 inch each. Then tap the bolts with a hammer to loosen the hub/bearing mounting bolts.
Remove the bolts and remove the hub/bearing assembly.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe all tightening torques as found in the specifications charts. Use a new cotter pin and apply anti-seize compound to the axle splines.

6/5/2012 justins1stchoiceanytime the abs light comes on it will trip the brake light also. You need to take the truck to a shop and have them scan the abs system. When you find out the codes you can repost them here and we can help you through a repair.

Check the turn signal switch, the stop light switch is connected with the multi-funtion switch.

5/30/2012 CVO1.Could be a weaken warning light switch triggered it..
2. Or the master cylinder primary circuit started to develop a problem.
Note: car brake systems are broken into two circuits, with two wheels on each circuit. If a fluid leak occurs in one circuit, only two of the wheels will lose their brakes and your car will still be able to stop when you press the brake pedal.
