Wont turn over the first try, like weak battery, but then it does.
i dont know if its a weak battery or something else. This morning i tried it 3 or 4 times with nothing, then fired right up. Is it a bad battery??

      Try this tip.

First, check the battery and starter cables for their tightness or free of corrosion and physical damaged.

See this Starting system simplified diagram. Have a help from an assistant to crank the engine, use a 12 volt light tester or a digital voltmeter, apply it to the starter control circuit.
If there is light or 12 volts and the starter isn't cranking, then the starter is the culprit. Have the starter to bench test for free at the local auto parts stores.
If there isn't no light or no volts, then the ignition switch is the culprit.
Check the starter relay and position the Automatic transmission shifter in neutral.

Note: a 3/4 charge battery is 12.50 volts
A discharge battery is 11.75 volts.
A battery under a cranking load and it is reading less than 7 volts,it will be a recycled battery.

Too low of battery voltage can allow the starter motor to try work but the lack of voltage causes the click instead of the familiar sound of th engine cranking over (and then starting) Have you tried to jump start it? If jumping it allows the engine to crank over normally and start you may simply have a case of a discharged battery. The battery on that car is hidden in front of the LF wheel but there is a jump start terminal / post to attach the positive jumper cable to and a bare bolt with a double nut nearby on the LF strut tower (painted surface near the LF fender) to connect the negative (black) jumper cable to. A low battery can be anything from "I left my headlights on" to an alternator that isn't charging the battery. Depending on how low the battery's voltage is, you may see the headlights work (hard to tell how much voltage the battery has by simply looking at headlights) and the starter just make one click, or the starter make several clicks rapidly or even the starter actually crank the engine but VERY slowing which doesn't always allow the engine to start.

P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times.

Here are some things to try:

Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP
Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister
Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
Repair open in PCM purge command circuit
      Replace purge Solenoid
      Replace vacuum switch
Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or solenoid
      Repair resistance in purge connector
      Replace PCM

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

      Faulty spark plug or wire
      Faulty coil (pack)
      Faulty fuel injector
      Burned exhaust valve
      Poor compression
      Defective computer
      8/10/2014 Philip Fernandez
how can I determine if its a faulty spark plugand where is the spark plug located on my engine
      8/10/2014 CVO
First, you'll need the diagnostic trouble code such as P0301 or P0302 etc..are the misfiring from the cylinder 1 or cylinder 2 ( the last digit is the cyl. # ). Unplug the spark plug wiring on that spark plug and if it doesn't upset the rpm's, then that plug may be bad ? Also, it could be one of the failure I mentioned above.
      8/10/2014 Philip Fernandez
okay that sounds great but I'm not sure which cylinder it is I believe its cylinder for I would have to plug up my diagnostic machine machine to find outand if and when I do do where can I locate the spark plug wiresthanks again for your help

Some makes and models can go into theft lock when battery voltage is lost. So can the radio? I'm not up to speed on Chrysler security systems.

Check for applicable trouble codes. At the least, you need an obd2 code reader to check codes.

If you think it is not security issue, check for voltage at the fuses, some go hot with the key on, some are hot all the time. You can check positive and negative cables at the battery.

I will check for relearn procedures for your security system? can't guarantee anything, you may have to take it to shop?
      7/24/2014 AutoMD Member
Put a new, relay fuse and still nothing.cranks but
      But won't turn on.
      7/24/2014 jdl
If the security system is the issue, it may take a manufacturer specific scanner/drb3 to fix this? Talk to your local dealership/service department.
      7/24/2014 jdl
If it cranks good but won't start, have helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, check for injector pulse. If you neither, I suspect the security system.

Thanks jdl.i checked for spark and I didn't get anything .going to
      Junk yard tomorrow.
      7/25/2014 jdl
If your security has a problem, going to the salvage yard won't help. You have to rule out the security system, first. My info for your security system says it can disable ignition and fuel.

Unless you can rule out the security system, I can't help you.
