The check engine light doesn't have to be ON to store a fault code.

Check the vehicle for fault codes to see if there are any sensors were involved to the malfunction of the engine.

1.Local auto parts stores such as Autozone ( not in California) or Advance Auto parts will scan and retrieve any diagnostic trouble codes ( dtc ) stored in the powertrain control module for free of charge..

      2. Amazon.com has the code reader for less than $35.00 dollars.

3.Re-post the dtc's in here " answer question " for further assistance.

Note: we need the dtc's to identify the sensor, there are a dozen different sensors to operate the car.

Does anyone know where I can locate the electrical connector that goes from the car to the fuel pump?
This connector goes from the car to the connector that is on the fuel pump. I can't find it anywhere.

Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the electrical connector at the fuel pump harness from around $11.00 (Standard Motor Products part # S706)

Where is the starter relay in a 2008 Sebring?
My sisters car will not start some of the time and I think the relay may be going bad. The lights and radio all work but it may or may not start on the first try. If it starts it starts perfectly but if not it doesn't do anything, no clicking, no starter, ...

Someone has to check for fault codes in all modules which requires use of a professional shop grade scan tool to read these codes. The starter relay is integral with the component called the TIPM or Totally Integrated Power Module so you can't just pull a starter relay out and put in another. You replace the TIPM and then you have to program it which is all done with dealer software.

There are no lights on so would a scan tool be useful? I thought the only way the scan tool would show a code is if the check engine light was on.

I just went to an auto parts store and they sell a starter relay for the car but couldn't tell me where it was located either.

The next thing you must try is using a different ignition key. I do hope there is another key. The ignition key has a transponder embedded in the head of the key for the built-in anti-theft system and the key can be the cause of a no crank. If you do not have another key you must check and see what fault codes are stored in the PCM. Depending on what code is stored will determine the next advice I have. You can buy a code reader from amazon for $25 and reading the PCM codes takes 2 minutes. The check engine lamp does not have to be illuminated for a code to be stored. You could also have a bad / faulty starter motor but my mechanic intuition says probably not. There is no replaceable small relay for the starter circuit. The circuit is integral with the TIPM.

That's the first thing that I did... All problems point to either the ignition itself or a starter relay. The auto parts store sells a starter relay for the car but I can't figure out where it is.

I want to know what fault codes are present right now. Check with a code reader, write them down. Then erase them with the code reader. Try to start the vehicle several times (I know it will not start) each time shut the key to the all the way off position. I want to know what new codes set, plus I want to know what codes were there before you erased them. Did you try a different key to start the car yet? The key has a transponder inside the head of the key. If you do not have a code reader you can buy one from amazon for $25 with shipping or twice that at an auto parts store locally. Tell me what I need to know and I will get you through this most likely. Without you reading the codes I cannot assist.

Under the odometer is a code: no bu5 or (maybe bus). Yellow alarm light is solid (not blinking). We did try using both keys. There has been only the one code shown. Repeated attempts to start, and returning the key to the full off position, does not erase the code. Don

The codes do not get displayed under the odometer, they have to be read with a code reader like I said, however, the "no bus" tells me something. There is a 99% probability that you need to replace the PCM with that message displayed.

At idle, my AC compressor cycles rapidly and does not cool. As soon as I get up to driving speed, it begins to cool.
This only happens when stopped. The rapid cycling boggs the motor down and has to be shut off to keep motor from dying.

post the codes please. The description of what got replaced is not enough. Tell the story with all details and codes, before and after. If you do not know the codes then buy a code reader from amazon for $21 and read codes yourself, it takes 2 minutes.

I want the code number, not the description. I cannot give pinpoint answers by assuming what the code number was based on you saying "Codes read catalytic converter". Also, you said "oxygen sensor". Which one was repaced as there are 4 of them? Were all replaced?
