Not a DIY job at all. You did not say your level of knowledge of auto repairs. Replacing this seal requires removing the timing belt which is high skill level for this engine.

Loud grinding coming from engine department
Since the cold weather, my car started to make loud grinding noise from engine department, oil was low, added oil but still makes noise, have a small leak with anti-freezw but adds when low, car run find but the loud noise scares me. (HELP)

Could need a water pump. The bearings can make a grinding noise when they wear out. Also the A/C compressor should be checked. Your best bet is to remove the drive belts and spin each pulley by hand to determine which one is noisy or binding.

I have a 2001 PT Cruiser. I was told to have my timing belt replaced at 64,000 miles, but didn't I'm now at 65,200 mile
My car won't start. There is a clicking sound after I turn the key in the ignition. What can the problem be?

It's not a failed timing belt. Might be a bad starter. Did you try to jump start the battery?

I hear sqeeling from my engine...
I hear sqeeling from my engine... when it starts then goes away when I accelerate. It squeels when I come to a stop while driving then goes away when I accelerate. It does not happen all the time but is occuring more frequently lately (75% of the time)

You probably need new belts. As your old belts wear out they stretch and lose tension. The squeeling is what you hear when the belt is slipping. You should replace all your belts and it should be good.

Why is my car squealing after I've driven it a couple of miles
It squeals very loud and almost exactly at the same time of travel. It only happens once, but it is very loud and last about a minute. It gradually stops. Its been suggested it is a belt, but has no relation to my steering wheel or my brakes.

Yes, it is a belt . Replace the belt or tighten it at least.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

Car won't start, yet has normal cranking.
Was driving 55mph and the rpms went to 5ooo and the car quit. Its like it was in neutral. It tries to start normally but wont. I have had problems with it starting off and on but never driving downthe road at this speed and quitting. I just wait about 10 minutes and ...

You absolutely must plug in a code reader and see if any fault codes are stored. You can obtain a code reader from amazon for $17 with the shipping. Takes a minute to check for codes. This is the first thing a professional would do, only thing is that a .pro would likely use a $2000 scanner to see more data, but a code check is the same whether the scanner is $17 or $2000 and without a code check anything I suggest is just conjecture at this point. I also want to know if the code reader you use cannot establish communication with the vehicle computer as often this can happen and this would also tell me something. The malfunction indicator lamp need not be illuminated for a fault code to be stored.

My car's engine is knocking sporadically and the oil pressure gauge is low
the car was running fine, then it wouldn't start without knocking. After adding 2 quarts of oil, the knocking stopped for twenty minutes. Now the car won't stay started and it's knocking again.

When you added the 2 quarts of oil, how low was the oil reading on the dipstick? Did the 2 quarts bring it up the the full mark exactly. Did the engine overheat to your knowledge?

The alternator light is on and it is discharging but the alternator tests ok
A rebuilt alternator was installed 11 mos ago. Two days ago the light came on and continually discharges. Also this car has a 318 engine.

Confirm that there is battery voltage at the heavy wire connection at the rear of the alternator. If no power there then you have a burnt fuse link located off of the positive battery terminal in the harness nearby. You will see a few .

Need to plug in a code reader and see what fault codes are stored is first step. Confirm that when you look at the bottom of engine you do not see any oil droplets hanging. I know u said driveway is clear but that is not a confirmation of no external oil leak. Other possibility is oil was under-filled maybe? Did you check oil level yourself after oil change done?
      10/17/2013 Donald Thomas
yes I check the dip stick and it read full

How many issues can a "misfire in cylinder 2" be responsible for? I've changed plugs, wires, coil pack already
The engine loses power when the a/c runs at idle. A/c stopped working all of a sudden and transmission fluid leaks

Is the engine running like it has one dead cylinder? Do a compression test. Swap fuel injector with a different cylinder and if the fault code changes to different cyl then you know the injector is bad or just replace #2 injector. It may not solve it.
