What is causing my heat to come on for short bursts and quickly turn cold?seabringSC - 2005 Chrysler Sebring - Body & Interior - 1/18/2013Air conditioning is working fine. Heat began taking awhile to come on (about 15 minutes of driving until air would turn heated). Now not only does it take a long time to come on, but it will intermittently turn cold. I must shut the air off completely and try it ...-
1/18/2013 CVOInsufficient coolant , trapped air in the cooling system might not have enough coolant to full fill the heater core.
The hot coolant flows from the engine to the heater core through the "inlet" hose. After circulating through the core, the coolant returns to the water pump through the "outlet" or "return" hose. Both the inlet and outlet return hoses should feel hot when the engine is at normal operating temperature and the heater is on.
1. If the both heater core hoses were cooled, then this vehicle might have an insufficient coolant in the cooling system.
2. If the heater core inlet hose is hot and the outlet hose is cool, the heater core might be clogged.
Note: check the radiator coolant level and top it off as needed.
Some cooling systems have air bleed valves built into the system to aid in the removal of air pockets. Advice: For many cooling systems, the method of removing air pockets is to start the engine and allow it to run with the radiator cap off or loose until all the air escapes from the neck of the radiator. For some systems this method is not sufficient, and the manufacturer has installed air bleed valves usually near or on the thermostat housing.

1/12/2013 Jimm1 Remove the two front wheels - to access the rear of the headlamps and the bulb sockets.
2 Locate the headlamp assembly splash shield in the front wheel well opening. Pull on the tabs by hand to unlock the splash shield from the headlamp assembly. Work one side off at a time. Use a flat head screwdriver to carefully pry the shield at one of the sides, if necessary, until it pops off.
3 Use your hands to disconnect the wire bundle from the back of the headlamp socket.
4 Turn the socket counterclockwise 1/4 turn by hand to remove it from the housing. Insert the replacement bulb and turn the socket clockwise 1/4 turn by hand to lock it into place.
5 Reconnect the wire bundle and snap the splash shield back into place over the headlamp assembly. Test the operation of the headlamps.
