    I have recently noticed a growl which seems to come from rear end or rear wheel bearings
    Truck has 138000 miles. Noise intensifies with speed and has no relation to gear changes. Noise only appears when moving, no unusual sound when stopped.

      sounds like you have the right idea, it could be the bearings, if you are noticing a growling from the rear tire area, take off the rear drums make sure it isn't the rear brake shoes, it could be if they haven't been replaced in a long time. and I hope it is cause a growling bearing can lead to extra damage if not taken care of. Don't keep letting it go check it out sooner than later

    When put in gear the car barley moves whats wrong with my clutch
    im buying the car from a friend and i asked him what was wrong with the car and all he said was it was the clutch and that right now it will barley move

      Did you hear any noise coming from transmission or clutch possibly? Possible clutch is not engaging or there an internal damage; transmission shift linkage is at fault. Did you check the condition of oil maybe low?

    Installed a rebuilt transmission, gears will change but will not engage. what could be wrong

      Could be the fuse to PCM controller is blown or the PCM itself is at fault. Consider also a faulty speed sensor. Have your engine scanned with a scan tool to retrieve the codes then post it here so that the community will able to help you in diagnosing the trouble of your vehicle.

    Transmission will not down shift
    it will shift up. but when i deaccelerate it stays in the high gear until it eventualy dies out its an 04 transmission in a 97 z71in ideas what the problem might be?

      You may have a faulty shift solenoid or the throttle position sensor is failing. Check your transmission fluid maybe low also.

    Engine bogs down when going over 30mph.
    replaced intake manifold and valve cover gaskets. dexcool anitfreeze got into cat. convertor. could that be the problem or could it be something else?

      Could be your throttle position sensor is failing. Do you have a check engine light? Even though, there's none I recommend to have your engine scanned for stored trouble codes to detect the exact fault of your engine.

    At start up in the mornings my baretta takes a few shifts before it will go into gear, Fluid is fine, clean, no leaks, ?

      It could be. The Vacuum Modulator monitors engine vacuum by a rubber vacuum hose which is connected to the engine. Engine vacuum reacts very accurately to engine load with high vacuum produced when the engine is under light load and diminishing down to zero vacuum when the engine is under a heavy load. The modulator is attached to the outside of the transmission case and has a shaft which passes through the case and attaches to the throttle valve in the valve body. When an engine is under a light load or no load, high vacuum acts on the modulator which moves the throttle valve in one direction to allow the transmission to shift early and soft. As the engine load increases, vacuum is diminished which moves the valve in the other direction causing the transmission to shift later and more firmly. Consider also the throttle cable that monitors the position of the gas pedal through a cable that runs from the gas pedal to the throttle valve in the valve body; It may be needs adjustment.

      Brake light switch is located on the brake pedal arm. Unbolt & bolt in new one. Wiring will unplug & plug back in to new switch.

    How to adjusted the transmission cable .
    DEAR AutoMD how to adjuste the transmission linkcage cable, and what is the speed for the tranny gears.. first gear change in the tranny.... second gear change in the tranny.... third gear change in the tranny.... big thanks,,,,,

      Dear Astrojuan89,

      I believe you have the 700r4 transmission, The Throttle Valve Cable that runs from your carberator to your transmission is adjustable by depressing the face of the connector. You can pull or push on the cable after it is depressed. When you make this adjustment, you are adjusting the cable to be shorter or longer.
      If you make it shorter, it will shift early and hard. If you make it longer, it will shift later and softer. Late and soft is not good.

    My speed gauge don't work nor the gas gauge and i change the cluster 3 time and the sanser

      I have this problem before I change the cluster 2 times and nothing happens. until save some money to take my van to the to car electic shop and they FIXED the Problem Finally........NOW I don't have no problems.with my cluster.........

    Why would my truck rev up in RPMs going from 1st to 2nd gear.
    Truck just turned 170,000 miles. Trans fluid has never been changed from original. Goes into first gear with no problem, going from first to second is where it needs to rev up the rpm's going into second. No problems with the other gears.

    When i lift my foot from the accelerator the car shudders and when stopping slips to neutral
    normal operation at 2100 rpm =80 mph now at 2200 rpm =77-78 mph on a downgrade 1900 rpm = 80 mph. the cruise control is not functioning properly vibration from 70 mph up feels like the car is tearing itself appart.

      Possible EGR valve is not opening and needs to be replaced. Did you check the level of your transmission fluid? Excessive amount of fluid will make your gears slipped; worst an internal damage in your transmission

      Did you check your tire pressure? Uneven tire pressure sometimes produces a whining noise during acceleration. Check also your wheel alignment.
