My daughter just slammed in to a concrete wall after the steering jerked to the left while on the freeway doing 70 mph. The front axle is completely broken. I would advise anyone lucky enough to be experiencing a warning sign of product failure to not drive the car until it is repaired or diagnosed as safe to drive by a certified and authorized mechanic.

Hi. I am having a problem with my steering pump for my above suv.
If I tell the service manager that I am aware of six bulletins on this issue do you think it's gives me leverage on THEM fixing it? It's a lease. I'm at 38k miles on s 39 month lease and of course they are saying I'm out of warranty! Crazy. Thank you!

First question- what is the specific problem with the power steering? Next question,do any of the service bulletins directly address this specific issue?

Finally, recognize just the publication or mere existence of a TSB (technical service bulletin) does not obligate the manufacturer nor the dealer to repair the vehicle under a warranty claim - these are two separate systems.

Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are recommended steps and procedures for repairing vehicles. A TSB is issued by the manufacturer when there is a growing trend with an unanticipated problems, but does not warrant a recall.
Most repair shops can look up TSB information to get the recommended repairs from the manufacturer.

I believe there is a special policy that applies to your concern. Which involves powersteering pump replacement and possible gear housing with dex 6 fluid. The new 12 vane pumps reduce parking lot maneuver shudder and less whine issues.

Do you know of any recall regarding front end corrosion on the 2002 impala?
Mileage - 6200 (yes, 6 thousand 2 hundred) Vehicle was purchased new and driveway kept. Lower control arm broke entering a normal driveway. Mechanic at garage says corrosion, but car was never flooded, only parked outside and driven infrequently.

Depends on the condition of the recall and the specific repairs performed. First step, check with the local dealerships in your area to see if the recall is still active or applicable.

What are the pros and con's of installing a 2.5"-4" lift kit, and what type/brand is recommended?
I just bought truck, 2wd with manual transmission with about 5"-6" ground clearance. I live in rural southern AZ, driving over semi-maintained dirt roads daily, traversing two washes with relatively severe entrance and exit angles. Truck has 108,000 miles, is in ...

What would cause a grinding noise when turning left?
Not sure how many miles, definitely over 150k. Had the car for about 3 months (can't take it back, bought from owner). About a month in, it started making a grinding noise (sounds like a rhythmic "whump whump whump") when the steering wheel is turned to the left ...
