First step - have the check engine light or stored fault codes scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' for more assistance.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

I am having the same problem and have replaced the fuel pump and filter, coils and plugs and plug wires, put a bottle of sea foam to a half tank of gas so it would be strong. I have been told now by auto zone with a test that it is the intake air temp sensor. The test came back with this part is bad but it can be the cadillac converter too !! Guess the sensor is cheapest so I am starting there. Go to auto zone and have them check codes.

Unless the vehicle or system involved is under warranty, yes, you pay for repairs.

Technical Service Bulletins, or TSBs, are recommended procedures for repairing vehicles. Not to be confused with recalls, a TSB is issued by a vehicle manufacturer when there are several occurrences of an unanticipated problem. TSBs can range from vehicle-specific to covering entire product lines and break down the specified repair into a step-by-step process.

While sometimes written by engineers employed by OEM's, the majority of TSBs are authored by the first automotive technician to come up with a repair procedure. Because certain problems may have more than one cause or there are sometimes more than one way to fix a problem, it's somewhat common for there to be more than one TSB for the same problem.
One major difference between a recall and a TSB in the automotive industry is that a recall usually evolves out of safety issues at the behest of an organization like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The ensuing recall maintenance/repair work is usually done at no charge to the car owner, regardless of the car's warranty status. Dealers are usually under no mandate to call in cars for which there are TSBs to do the related repairs. Nor is there an obligation to do the TSB repairs for free or at reduced charges to the owner.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance oils feature a special formulation that helps to provide outstanding protection during today's longer oil change intervals, and are guaranteed to protect for up to 15,000 miles between oil changes*.

      See this site http://www.mobiloil.com/.../...rmance_5W-30.aspx

Note: Walmart has it for $27.00 dollars per jug ( 5 quarts ).

Regular oil filter lasts for 5,000 miles, then just change the oil filter.
Car manufacturers ( Toyota ) recommended to replace the synthetic oil ( Mobil One ) every 5,000 miles.

I tryed to remove spark plugs ,they turn hard a little ways and bind up,I am afraid of breaking them off. any info on this problem?

If you are removing them with a totally cold engine, try bringing engine up to full temperature and then try removing plugs. Try penetrating oil, specifically "Kroil" which is a magical aerosol lubricant that Superman brought back from planet Krypton. AutoZone sells it, only place or else order online from maker.

How do you remove power steering pump

    • HouseCallAuto
      5/5/2013 HouseCallAuto
You will need a power steering pump pulley puller. After the pulley is removed the pump is bolted to the bracket with the bolts that you can now see. There is another bolt that goes from a bracket at the rear of the pump to the block. I will assume that you know how to remove the belt and fan shroud to give yourself room to work at the pump. The same puller set can also reinstall the pulley to the new pump. I recc you buy a pump that comes already assembled it the reservoir ass opposed to the pump that comes a little cheaper but you have to transfer the reservoir from the old pump to the new pump.

Check the harness to the o2 sensor, it should be three wires. One will be ground, one will be signal (0.5 to 5v) and one will be heater (12v). If you get less than the perscribed voltage with the vehichle on and running with a good ground wire (

      4/26/2013 Jimm
There is a vapor canister purge valve located on the intake manifold, on the firewall behind the engine, or at the fuel tank. Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the vapor canister purge valve from around $19.00 for your vehicle.
