    Anybody have a problem with a turn relay staying active (clicking) when turn indicators or 4 ways not on?
    The turn signals and 4 ways actually function perfectly. Come on and go off with the switches. The relay however randomly "activates" itself while driving. The lights don't come on or even flicker while this is happening. The only thing electrical that ...

      First step - swap / exchange the relay for one like it from the relay panel. See if the problem moves once the relay is moved.

      If the problem goes away / moves then simply replace the relay with a new one. The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
      In fact, they (RockAuto) list the turn signal flasher from around $7.88 for your vehicle.

    What is a drivers door module and does it cost $850 to get it replaced, or am I getting hosed?
    none of the electrical components on the door are working ie. power windows, mirrors or seat heater switches. It cost me $100 for them to tell me it is the driver's door module. A hundred bucks just to drive it in the bay. what is it and can I get it repaired for a ...

      Yes - you are getting shafted - the repair is simple and much less expensive - you can do this at home with simple tools; screwdrivers and small putty knife to remove the drivers door panel. Use the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website or search YouTube on-line - save around $600.00 in the process.

      The drivers door power widow control switch (including the heated seats) will cost less than $200.00 - from these sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.

      In fact, they (RockAuto) list the drivers door control switch assembly from around $175.00 for your vehicle. Standard Motor Products part #CBS1475.

    I need 3 sets of carpet. Black. 1988 coupe, convertible and 35th anniversary. I am confused between the acc carpet
    price and the moulded. That is a total of three COMPLETE carpet kits

    Why did my door latch cable break on the drivers side and why do I have to buy a assembly instead of just the cable?
    Are they making the new cables with heavier cable wire.Is there a recall on the faulty cables? Where can I buy a cable direct instead of having to pay over a 150.00 at the dealer?

      Think about it; which door latch (and cable) receives the most use? The drivers door. The door latch cable is readily available on the aftermarket.
      Dorman part # 924360 - costs around $21.00 for these on-line sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities. This price is from RockAuto by the way - but each of these sources would be comparable - and certainly much less expense than the delearship price.

    Why? Randomly the interior light won't come on, radio will stay on.
    Randomly for several months now the interior lights won't come on when they should. After turning off the car the radio will stay on after opening the door. When using the door lock buttons I normally have to push the button twice to lock the door but sometimes now ...

    Driver side window not working smelled something burning is there a recall for this
    have not used window since. i asked some dealers and was told no recall on 2008. only 2007 could they have used parts from 2007 on a 2008 and how are they so sure its not a 2007 part.

      Defect: General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles. Fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.
      Component Affected: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
      Corrective Action: Owners will be contacted and dealers will test the driver's door module. If the module is functioning properly, a protective coating will be applied. If the module is not functioning properly, it will be replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge. GM will notify Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC owners, Isuzu and Saab will contact their respective owners. The recall began on August 2, 2013. Buick owners may contact the owner center at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet owners at 1-866-694-6546, GMC owners at 1-866-996-9463, Isuzu owners at 1-800-255-6727, and SAAB owners at 1-855-880-0808. GM's campaign number is 12180. This recall is an expansion of recall 12V-406.
      Consequence: A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.

    Heater stays on hihg and wont shut off
    first heater would not shut off had to disconnect battery and now the heater dont blow when running and does when we shut car off

      In fact, they (RockAuto) list the blower motor / resistor control from around $22.00 for your vehicle. The blower motor control module is easily replaced - located behind the glove compartment. Simply access the module through the glove compartment - remove the interior panel (box) from the compartment. One wiring connector to unplug and two screws to remove.

    Intermittent wipers only work when they want to.

      Don't jump the gun unless you have ruled out the Underhood Bussed Electrical Center (UBEC) as the cause which is the cause more often than the BCM. That being said, the BCM can't be missed as it is right near the steering column, rather large elctronic box, but if you buy one and replace it the BCM has to be programmed which you cannot do. The Underhood Bussed Electrical Center (UBEC) has a wiper relay that is part of the UBEC and is not serviced separately as a replacement relay.

    Why when I put my left turn signal it sounds and looks like one of lights is out?
    When I push the lever towards the left turn signal it sounds like the light is out but I have changed it and it still does the same thing. My car is 2001 Impala Base and the mileage is around 172XXX.

      The turn signal works front and rear? Are you saying the turn signals flash faster or slower than normal? You can check the flasher.

      Not sure what you mean that is sounds like it is out, the noise you hear is a relay that makes a connection on and off, to determine if your light flashes you need to physically look to see if both the front and back light is flashing on and off. If no flash could be bulb, or the flasher relay or fuse. Re verify the problem.

      My front left turn signal does not turn on the rear one flashes faster than normal and it is not the bulb because I have replaced it and still does the same thing.

      Most likely has a bad headlamp relay in the underhood relay box.

    Speedometer needle jumps around and doesn't register speed.
    Sometimes after the engine warms up it will catch and work appropriately for a little while and then it may start jumping around again or it may work until the engine is stopped and then started again.

      You have to plug in a code reader and read the fault codes. if you feel no issues with the shifting of the transmission and there are no codes stored then you have a bad speedometer which means replacing the full instrument cluster.

    How do I get a stuck cd out of the radio?
    It is a 6 disc cd changer n I was only able to put in 1 cd it wont take anymore. The cd plays ok but when u push the eject button it just clicks and says check cd.

      You will have to remove the CD player /changer from the instrument panel and take the unit apart - on a bench / external to the vehicle.
      On the stereo unit itself - you will have to remove part of the outer sheet metal case in order to access and remove the stuck CD disc inside.

    What will make the drivers side headlight a lot dimmer then the passenger side?
    Tried to trouble shoot the problem, but could not figure it out!!

      A bad headlight socket would do it or a bad ground for the socket.

      Gauge Cluster Disassembly Instructions

      The following are step-by-step instructions for disassembling the instrument gauge cluster:
      •If you have a tilt steering wheel.. tilt it fully downward.

      •Gauge Cluster Trim Plate Removal
      Remove the four phillips head screws on the bottom of the cluster trim plate.
      Remove the three phillips head screws on the top inner edge of the cluster trim plate.
      Remove the cluster trim plate. If you have either the rear defrost switch and/or the passenger side mirror control attached to the trim plate, do not remove them, just rotate the trim plate to the right out of the way.

      •Plastic See-Through Shield Removal
      Remove the trip odometer knob
      Remove two long 7/32" hex head screws holding the bottom of the plastic face shield.
      Remove two short 7/32" hex head screws holding the top of the plastic face shield.

      Remove the see through shield.

      •Cluster Gauge Face Plate Removal
      Remove the 7/32" hex head screw holding the upper right side of the cluster.
      Remove the short 9/32" hex head screw holding the lower right side of the cluster.
      Remove two short 9/32" hex head screws holding the transmission gear indicator on the lower left corner of the gauge cluster.

      Gently remove the gear indicator by slipping it down and away. It is attached with a string to the steering column. Do not stress this too much.

      Remove the gear indicator face plate by sliding it down and away.

      Remove the 1/4" hex head screw holding the left air-conditioning duct in place.

      Remove the left air-conditioning duct.

      Remove the 7/32" hex head screw holding the upper left side of the cluster.

      Remove the 7/32" hex head screw holding the lower left side the the cluster.

      Remove the cluster face plate.

      Remove the Green turn signal film and foam from the pegs

      •Gauge and Tachometer Removal
      Remove three 7/32" hex head screws holding the center pod of four gauges (fuel/volts/temp/oil)

      Remove the center pod of gauges by gently rocking it back and forth while pulling outward.

      This gauge pod has prongs on the back which plug into a set of electrical clips mounted on the gauge cluster. Take care not to damage the gauge needles.

      Remove two 1/4" hex head screws that hold the tachometer in place.

      Remove tachometer by again rocking it back and worth while pulling outward.

      At this point, you should be able to see the 8 lamps that illuminate the gauge cluster. 5 that are easily removed, and 3 behind the speedometer. You can turn your dash lights on at this point to see if any of them are burnt out.

      Once the guage cluster is exposed you can easily replace any of the bulb sockets.
