My headlights are weak and my interior lights won't shut off. How much do you think this would cost to be fixed right?
My head lights are so weak, they look like they should be the daytime running lights for a much older car. I just bought the car as is and the lights worked as I left the lot. this is my third time driving the car and now the check light is on and the interior ...

The weak lights indicate several possible issues; faulty alternator, faulty / worn serpentine drive belt, faulty / worn serpentine drive belt tensioner, corroded / loose / faulty battery terminal or cable connections.

The first step would be to have a free electrical system test performed at any local auto parts store; to check for the condition of the battery, alternator, wiring and connections. Then, please post a reply with the results for further assistance.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources,,,,, - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the serpentine drive belt from around $6.40, the alternator from around $118.80, the belt tensioner from around $22.70 for your vehicle

Since you just purchased the vehicle - is there any type of used car warranty in effect?

You need to find a mechanic to solve this. No way to know the cause based on these details. The fix will not be "rewiring the light" I assure you. I feel that you do not do any of your own repairs otherwise I would give you diagnostic advice but unless you can do what I say it will not help in any way. You will need a code reader at the very least.

Hum, driver-side door post at airbag
I have a hum that gets pretty loud on the driver-side door post just below the side airbag where it seems a vent is. I can press on the area and it will go away for a short while. I'm wondering if anyone may have experienced this type of situation or what it may be?

Air Gap in Door From Dent
I recently got this car and this morning turned out of my parking spot thinking it was my old car. This car turns faster and it scraped a lightpole. The dent itself isn't that bad but my question is, now there is an air gap at the top of the drivers door (dent is ...

Near impossible to give an accurate repair estimate for any body work via the internet - even with photos. There is too much unknown / potential hidden damage.

Your next step should be to obtain several repair estimates from trusted local auto body repair shops - to inspect the vehicle firsthand - and provide a written and accurate list of the items to be fixed.

There should be no fuel leakage. Have a shop diagnose where fuel is coming from. This is a fire risk. The wiring is different on some aftermarket pumps and there the pigtail must be replaced and wire correctly. Was gauge fluctuating before fuel pump replacement? if not issues with instrument cluster is a known problem and require repair or replacement. Dorman parts make new replacement units.

Why doesn't my passenger side electric fold-in mirror work?

Typically I can tell you that there are no service parts for power mirrors other than maybe the glass. if the mirror shows some movement it proves that it is receiving the power and that would mean the mirror is junk unless smacking it around carefully gets it out of this stuck mode.

All happened at once: cruise control quit, brake warning light came on, heater quit. Help!
Chevrolet 1500 Silverado with 160,000 miles. Returning home on a trip, the cruise control just refused to engage. A couple of days earlier, the emergency brake light and the ABS light came on, and as I drove home on the same trip, the heater fan would not come ...

So they did not all happen at once like you stated they did? The cruise control quit because there is a fault with the anti-lock brakes. This is normal to disable the cruise under these circumstances until the fault is identified and fixed. The heater fan is a separate issue even though it was during the same trip. The blower resistor and / or the electrical plug going to the resistor is junk. Or the blower motor itself is junk. Look for a burnt connector at the motor or the resistor. The connector can be purchased separately if needed. Only replace it if the terminals appear that they started to scorch brown or melted plastic. Also, if this is what you find, and you previously replaced the resistor without the resistor connector being nburned previously, then also replace the blower motor. The blower motor can degrade and start drawing too much amperage and cause an overheated circuit causing stuff to burn.

Anybody have a problem with a turn relay staying active (clicking) when turn indicators or 4 ways not on?
The turn signals and 4 ways actually function perfectly. Come on and go off with the switches. The relay however randomly "activates" itself while driving. The lights don't come on or even flicker while this is happening. The only thing electrical that ...

First step - swap / exchange the relay for one like it from the relay panel. See if the problem moves once the relay is moved.

If the problem goes away / moves then simply replace the relay with a new one. The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources,,,,, - to list only a few possibilities.

What is a drivers door module and does it cost $850 to get it replaced, or am I getting hosed?

Yes - you are getting shafted - the repair is simple and much less expensive - you can do this at home with simple tools; screwdrivers and small putty knife to remove the drivers door panel. Use the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website or search YouTube on-line - save around $600.00 in the process.

The drivers door power widow control switch (including the heated seats) will cost less than $200.00 - from these sources;,,,, - to list only a few possibilities.

In fact, they (RockAuto) list the drivers door control switch assembly from around $175.00 for your vehicle. Standard Motor Products part #CBS1475.

Why did my door latch cable break on the drivers side and why do I have to buy a assembly instead of just the cable?
Are they making the new cables with heavier cable wire.Is there a recall on the faulty cables? Where can I buy a cable direct instead of having to pay over a 150.00 at the dealer?
    • Jimm
      2/22/2014 Jimm
Think about it; which door latch (and cable) receives the most use? The drivers door. The door latch cable is readily available on the aftermarket.
Dorman part # 924360 - costs around $21.00 for these on-line sources;,,,, - to list only a few possibilities. This price is from RockAuto by the way - but each of these sources would be comparable - and certainly much less expense than the delearship price.

Its not a recall, they call it a campaign.

      Make/Models: Model/Build Years:
      BUICK/RAINIER 2006-2007
      GMC/ENVOY 2006-2007
      GMC/ENVOY XL 2006
      ISUZU/ASCENDER 2006-2007
      SAAB/9-7X 2005-2007
Defect: General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles. Fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.
Corrective Action: Owners will be contacted and dealers will test the driver's door module. If the module is functioning properly, a protective coating will be applied. If the module is not functioning properly, it will be replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge. GM will notify Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC owners, Isuzu and Saab will contact their respective owners. The recall began on August 2, 2013. Buick owners may contact the owner center at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet owners at 1-866-694-6546, GMC owners at 1-866-996-9463, Isuzu owners at 1-800-255-6727, and SAAB owners at 1-855-880-0808. GM's campaign number is 12180. This recall is an expansion of recall 12V-406.
Consequence: A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
