Did you check your fender liner on you passenger side? Also check your power steering fluid level, power steering pump and gear, power steering belt, and steering gear (it is possible that it needs lubrication)

I have replaced the steering gear (Rack and pinion) on my Cadilac and it keeps blowing out the sector shaft seal
I have put 6 racks in and all have blown out as soon as i turn the steering wheel. New pump was installed also. I put the original steering back in and it works fine except for a little drip at the inner tie rod

That's crazy you went through that many of them? Were they all the same brand? Also just wondering did you put the original rack back in or the original pump?

Chance is slim all of the racks were bad, did you just keep getting the same one after returning. I guess it could have been a bad batch, Where did you get the rack?

Ironic, I purchased 2 of the racks and new pump from Autoway, 3-from Advance and 1-from Napa

This guy is right the moment it happened the second time after throwing tools around the shop i would have started investigating , now lets start . You have 1 high pressure line coming in and a return for excess oil and air to return to the pump . Now this is a circular flow taking place all the time you are driving engine running and barely steering the moment you turn the wheel excess pressure is backing up inside the rack when it needs to be passed to the return system which sounds like it cannot do. this return line needs to be checked it happens very rarely mostly in brake systems , rubber hoses can break down internally causing blockages or chokes in brake caliper hoses mostly fluid can go to brake but not return causing vehicle to pull or brake to burn up in your case it might be flowing while not steering but increase flow tkaes it over the edge by not allowing . I can tell you the pump is working great great enough and somehow dead heading inside all these racks and then popping seals . You need to identify the pressure line leave it attached and then the return line un attach from pump and with vehicle running let drain out to visually confirm you got return flow coming out of these racks good flow not trickling . There isnt anyway to hook up backwards is there ? All this just food for thought good luck

During rainy conditions, there is a noise,a knock type sound. Seems like in the wheel assembly
I have 53,000 miles on car, tires are newer, after market rims. The car has just started making this noise, and it tends to get louder the longer driven in wet conditions.

Nobody can pinpoint this without looking at the car for you and hearing the noise. Sounds odd to only happen when wet but stranger things than that can happen.

That's what makes it hard to diagnose! I have tried to hve it looked at, but it has to be raining at length! I really think it's in the suspension, just not sure what rain has to do with it! Thanks for replying!

You can diagnose your vehicle using a scan tool to know if there is a stored trouble code in your vehicle.

I get a "service ride control" when I drive my car. I think that means that something is wrong with 1 of my shocks? Help
If that is the problem, what is the best solution for me? My car is in great shape and runs perfectly besides this.

YOU SHOULD HAVE STANDARD AIR SHOCKS ,CHECK AIR LINES AND CONNECTORS TO SHOCKS, MAKE SURE THE SHOCK AIR BAG DOES NOT LEAK LOOK FOR DAMAGE TO SHOCK.

How do i replace a bar that broke off my lower control arm?

    • Blackwater

If your lower control arm is broken, you have to replace the entire assembly. You cannot just fix one part of it, some people might disagree and say it can be repaired but i wouldn't gamble on the control arm since it supports my vehicle.

The only thing i repair in my control arm are the ball joints and bushings, if its the arm itself, i buy a new one

Service Stability is displayed in the Driver Information Center. How can I determine what is wrong?
Car has 80,000 miles on it. Problem started about 10 days ago. It happened while I was driving. For short periods of time the Service Stability message goes away. The problem starts when traveling slow and turning the message comes on and I hear a slight rumble ...

You likely cannot because you will need the fault codes that are stored related to the fault for the stability control. Access to that info can only be with a full function shop grade level scan tool to access the suspension module.

WHY IS MY CAR BECOMING VERY HARD TO STEER?
We've already replaced the power steering pump. It has progressively gotten worse. It's gotten undrivable.I first noticed it when I was turning around. It was not a problem going down the road or backing up. When it first started it was worse to the left than the ...

It might need a new rack and pinion. The vehicle has a system called magnasteer. The system can set fault codes in memory but will require a shop grade scan tool to access them. There may or may not be fault codes but this must be checked before throwing parts at the car. If I were you, I would stop at a Cadillac parts dept with $30 worth of coffee and three dozen donuts, and kindly ask (bribe) nicely if you could chat with a tech for a minute. Trust me, they will know what your car needs if you explain it to them like you did here. They do this every day on the same cars every day. they will know. Since you already replaced the pump, what is left is the rack and the electrical sensors and there is a thing called the Variable Effort Steering Actuator.

It is possible that your steering gear needs to be lubricated or repaired. The other possible causes are

•your power steering belt is damaged or broken

•your power steering reservoir fluid level is low

•your wheels may out of alignment

      •your tire pressure is low
