Rear of car is completely down would replacing the original shocks with conversion self pump up shocks cure the problem
I do know the original electronic shocks are not working possibly due to either the ride control module or the built in compressor not working I already decided to replace the shocks with Suncore self pump up air shocks as I don't have the nescary fault finding ...

      Hi Oxides,
Thanks for the answer I have already ordered a set of aftermarket self pump up air shocks from Suncore that come with a set of resistors that apparently stop any messages on the dashboard, they should arrive today my query is if just replacing the shocks will cure the problem, as I alway's believed the springs held the car up and the shocks controlled the bounce as I mentioned in the main part of my question. I went with self pump up shocks so I can regulate the ride much in the same way as the original shocks did, as having such a large trunk I have overloaded the trunk in the past to the extent the the exhaust dragged as I drove out of a gas station with a sharp slope, I also have a house in Indiana that I am renovating as best I can (so I can sell my house in Oklahoma and get rid of the mortgage freeing up what little money my wife and I get from Social Security disability also it is alot cooler in the area of Indiana I own the house in summer heat in Oklahoma is getting too much for me) and have carried alot of hand machine tools etc., to work on the house there infact it was that last trip that made me realise I had a problem because I was blinding drivers coming the other way with my headlights on low beam making me stop and readjust them. In the past I used my old 1990 Chevy truck but it finally gave up on me after 468,000 miles making the Cadillac my only vehicle.

    Power steering fluid is leaking
Every day I need to add power steering fluid, otherwise I can't turn my car

My best suggestion to you is to get the leak fixed because if it is leaking as fast as having to top up daily you could end up burning out the power steering pump or worse yet having the fluid get on the exhaust pipe and catching the car on fire I have seen alot of Cadillacs in the scrap yards that have caught fire under the hood, I do know there is a recall on the fuel lines on the 1994 through 1996 which may have been the cause, but thin power steering fluid is very flammable.
      Good luck,

ck pump and steereing rack for a leak. the rack leaks on the sides where the boots are. fill the
system and clean areas that look in question for a leak. then have some1 turn the wheel all the way
to lock. hold the wheel all the way and this causes it to serge in pressure look for leak

A loose brake calliper could be the cause, also check worn out brake pads.

Did you check your fender liner on you passenger side? Also check your power steering fluid level, power steering pump and gear, power steering belt, and steering gear (it is possible that it needs lubrication)

I have replaced the steering gear (Rack and pinion) on my Cadilac and it keeps blowing out the sector shaft seal
I have put 6 racks in and all have blown out as soon as i turn the steering wheel. New pump was installed also. I put the original steering back in and it works fine except for a little drip at the inner tie rod

That's crazy you went through that many of them? Were they all the same brand? Also just wondering did you put the original rack back in or the original pump?

Chance is slim all of the racks were bad, did you just keep getting the same one after returning. I guess it could have been a bad batch, Where did you get the rack?

Ironic, I purchased 2 of the racks and new pump from Autoway, 3-from Advance and 1-from Napa

This guy is right the moment it happened the second time after throwing tools around the shop i would have started investigating , now lets start . You have 1 high pressure line coming in and a return for excess oil and air to return to the pump . Now this is a circular flow taking place all the time you are driving engine running and barely steering the moment you turn the wheel excess pressure is backing up inside the rack when it needs to be passed to the return system which sounds like it cannot do. this return line needs to be checked it happens very rarely mostly in brake systems , rubber hoses can break down internally causing blockages or chokes in brake caliper hoses mostly fluid can go to brake but not return causing vehicle to pull or brake to burn up in your case it might be flowing while not steering but increase flow tkaes it over the edge by not allowing . I can tell you the pump is working great great enough and somehow dead heading inside all these racks and then popping seals . You need to identify the pressure line leave it attached and then the return line un attach from pump and with vehicle running let drain out to visually confirm you got return flow coming out of these racks good flow not trickling . There isnt anyway to hook up backwards is there ? All this just food for thought good luck

During rainy conditions, there is a noise,a knock type sound. Seems like in the wheel assembly
I have 53,000 miles on car, tires are newer, after market rims. The car has just started making this noise, and it tends to get louder the longer driven in wet conditions.

Nobody can pinpoint this without looking at the car for you and hearing the noise. Sounds odd to only happen when wet but stranger things than that can happen.
      8/18/2010 genabug02
That's what makes it hard to diagnose! I have tried to hve it looked at, but it has to be raining at length! I really think it's in the suspension, just not sure what rain has to do with it! Thanks for replying!

Did you already check the condition of your oil pump?
      8/19/2010 genabug02
no, never thought of that. Its driving me crazy tho. I have gotten under the car looking for leaks, anything abnormal, and I see nothing!
