Valve job may take 9hours (estimated) for one side only and it will take 12 hours for both sides according to Chilton Labor Guide. Did you already check if the supply of your oil to your valve train is sufficient? Insufficient oil supply can also cause valve knocking.

Why does my car hesitate when i step on the gas
i put a fuel pump in and everytime i drive it bulks out but starts back up.

    • Nissan Technical Advisor
I could be a clogged or collapsed PCV valve/hose. Also clogged or dirty fuel injector is another cause of this. Check your spark plugs, maybe it needs replacement also.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

The first 4 are not applicable to you but may applicable to the other people reading this post.

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor.
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor

Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

The blower motor speed control is incorporated into the blower motor assembly. That is also the blower relay. There is also a 40 amp maxi fuse (fuse #4) in the fuse / relay panel just rearward of the washer fluid reservoir.

Hi Bren, if DTC detects that fan is faulty, better to replace it, but check first it wiring connection, current maybe intermittent. Loose connectors or relay is faulty.

If the battery is old and has a bad cell that can do that. If you know the battery is good then the next thing is to find out what is still using power when the vehicle is off. I find many bad radios as the cause so disconnect the radio fuse first and see if the battery remains OK.

Does it lose power or does it not change gear up to the 3rd gear or overdrive which would make the revs go way up you can check it by pressing the information switch until it shows the engine revs if the revs go way up check transmission fluid if it is okay I suggest getting the car to a transmission shop before it burns out the transmission.
If that isn't the cause try checking the air filter as it could be blocked needing to be changed otherwise get a mechanic to run a check on the engine it could be choked up injectors or bad injector pump, either way it could cause engine damage especially if there isn't enough fuel getting through causing the engine to run lean it will eventually cause the valves to burn and that is a very expensive repair.
      Good luck,
      Richard E

This could get interesting for you unfortunately. The first place I would start is the engine oil cooler. I am fairly sure that your car has one but forgive me if I'm wrong. This is a common place where the two can get mixed. Replace the engine oil cooler and change both coolant and oil. Hopefully that's where your problem is, if not you'll have to start disassembling the engine. Check the intake manifold gasket first, then the head gasket, then the cylinder heads, then the engine block. Hope for the best and good luck!

I can't seem to find anything on what code 14 means but I would suspect that your a/c charge is low not that you need a new compressor. Have a shop charge it up and check for leaks. Even though auto stores sell recharge kits you probably don't want to do this one yourself. The a/c coolant is quite toxic and can cause negative health effects for you and the environment if not handled properly. Hope this helps.

Why is my car leaking pure water
Every morning there is about a quart of water on the garage floor, pure water no anti freeze. My mechanic says it is from the A/C and is typical for a Deville. Is this true?

    • Bill

Sounds right unless its 100 degrees in your garage in which case it would have evaporated already. Pull your car into garage after driving leaving A/C on and see if you see dripping. The dripping you see is moisture from the atmosphere the A/C unit is removing from the interior of your caddy to make it cool. The more humidity the more dripping of water (condensation) you will see under the car.
