SUPERCHARGER RATTLE WHILE IDLING SAYING NORMAL FOR NOISE
    DEALER SAYS BULITIN #2906513

    • Jimm

Check the TSB details at these websites; www.cadillacfaq.com, www.autoMD.com, www.dcautogeek.com -among others.

Since there may be the technical service bulletin and your vehicle is MY 2012 - what does the dealership suggest they might do about this issue on your vehicle? By the way, the correct TSB designation is: PIP4523A

Here is information and a website (www.dcautogeek.com) on what GM is claiming as 'normal' noise for the supercharger....WOW!!

The torsional isolator is used in the CTSv LSA engine to isolate potential gear rattle noise during idle. The isolator contains a torsional spring that fits over the shaft. Purpose of the shaft is to distribute the stresses in the torsional spring. As the spring goes thru its travel, the inside of the coils can contact the shaft. The spring material is intentionally harder than the shaft which by design results in visual witness marks and/or limited wear on the shaft. The witness marks and/or limited wear is expected and has been observed on all the Eaton component durability tests, GM engine and vehicle durability tests and on customer vehicles with no impact on the functionality of the spring and isolator. The shaft and isolator are in a sealed cavity, separate from the rest of the supercharger and engine.

Q: Will this shaft wear harm my engine?

A: No. The visible wear will not damage the engine. The supercharger and the engine were tested and successfully validated to meet all GM durability requirements…which are much more severe than any customer usage.

      Q: What causes this wear?

A: The isolator contains a torsional spring that fits over the shaft. The purpose of the shaft is to better distribute the stresses in the torsional spring and prolong its life. As the spring goes thru its travel, the inside of the coils can contact the shaft. The spring is a harder material than the shaft…so that when there is contact, the spring will not potentially break. If the spring breaks, then the torsional isolator function is lost.

I have worked on GM anti-theft systems for many years in all different body styles and never had to ever replace an anti-theft module. That being said I believe that you may have something else going on here.In more than 90% of all cases relating to a no crank situation in the PassKey system, the cause is at least one wire being broken at the ignition lock cylinder which you said you replaced already? Your first sentence is not clear to me. **I've replaced the key, tumbler for the key had programmed.** Does this sentence say you replaced the ignition lock cylinder?

the mechanic said there were broken parts inside the motor, and he don,t know were they came from. and he said something about cam shaft may have broke.the car had oil in it and the pump was working.

OK - if the camshaft is broken, then Yes that will lock the motor from turning / operating. Your choices are limited to; replace or rebuild the existing engine if it's even rebuildable (depending upon the damage), or exchange the engine for a rebuild.

Try the many on-line auto parts sources; such as - www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.partsgeek.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. The replacement rebuilt engine lists for around $1800.00 or more - for the long block (minus accessories and labor to install).

Changing the oil and filter is definitely a good idea if it has'nt already been changed recently. But look for low coolant level and visible leaks from radiator and connecting hoses,water-pump weep- hole.Check for worn drive-belts.If the water-pump drive-belt is slipping ,it would overheat. If it's a pre owned car one does'nt know if the belts have ever be replaced,so i would replace them unless they look really new. Also I would flush the cooling system and replace the coolant because coolant loses it's effectiveness after a year or two.A lot of little things together can cause an engine to overheat. But it is important to consider big problems too like coolant in the engine oil or oil in the coolant which you will notice when checking coolant and oil levels.I hope it is something small.

How to replace rear spark plugs
what has to be removed to do it

    • Jimm

For access to the rear mounted spark plugs - it's best to raise the front end (support on jack stands) and remove the front wheels. The spark plugs can be accessed through the front fenderwells to the engine.

Need more information - are you referring to the air conditioning system? Are you referring to the vent controls out-of-adjustment? What service or part did the dealer say was...'filled with air'?

The system is low on refrigerant, and only after it is confirmed if it is in need of refrigerant or not can the blend door actuator be a cause. This is a confusing symptom - cold on pass side and hot on the other, it even throws off good mechanics, but in the majority of cases the cause simply is that the system is low, The refrigerant only fills half of the evaporator and the half that it fills is directly inline with the pass side ducting and the other side that lacks refrigerant is inline with the driver side ducting.

      HouseCallAuto
Cool on the driver side and hot on the pass side is almost always caused by a faulty pass side blend door actuator. If it were the reverse (cool on pass side and hot on driver side the cause is always that the system is low on refrigerant.)
