    How to replace brake rotors?
I have a 2004 SRX V8 AWD. I am going to have to replace the front and back brake rotors in the near future. Are there any tricks to replace them? Does the front rotor come off after you remove the caliper bracket? Does the front rotor simply fit over the lug ...

Scroll down for the PDF file in the forum that i am in.

      http://www.cadillacforums.com/.../...-any-gotchas.html

Basically you need a 32-34mm wrench to remove the hub to be able to remove the brake rotors but the calipers are the first obviously to be removed.

For rotors and pads, i only recommend EBC

What would cause a front brake disk feel like it is badly warped when it is not.
I have had the right front disk turned and also replaced the caliper with a rebuilt unit. The disk was only 2/1000 out. For about a day, it worked smoothly then began doing the same thing. Could it be the ABS sensor?

Get the car on a lift for an oil change and ask the guy to look at all steel brake lines for signs of rust through in areas that are heavily degraded with rust. If they are all dry everywhere, next unbolt the master cylinder leaving the lines connected to it and visually look at the rear of the master that makes contact with the brake booster for wetness. It should not be wet with brake fluid, if it is replace the master.

Try the local auto parts sources; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc. for the OBD and ABS system fault codes. They can also scan and read the OBD (On Board Diagnotics) system for free and help to decipher any codes displayed.

What tool removes the rear calipers

Did you try to lightly tap the caliper loose. On my friends seville he removed the lower caliper bolt and it swung upwards on the upper caliper bolt. Sometimes it takes some extra help to loosen the caliper. Try to bleed the line first then tap it upward. Once the caliper swings upward you can slide the top off the hinge.

I know I need tie rod both wheels are wobbly. May sound silly, but to confirm I will need two (2) tie rods for front ?
do i need tie rid 'outer' one for right side and 1 for left to attach to steering knuckle?

this is a very serious situation. if the wheels are wobbly have it towed to repair shop for repairs, or do not drive it until repaired. this vehicle should have 4 tie rods 2 inner 2 outter.

yeah it 'feels serious'...tech told me i need new 'tie rod' weeks ago, while i've been saving $ for fixing that and coolant issue/labor i kept driving like idiot. hoping i didnt ruin inner tie rod linkage and boots also. i know bearings or ball joints needed. So for total vehicle 4 tie rods 2 inner 2 outer. Just so I know is that for each pair of wheels, if not does inner attach to steering knuckle and outer to both wheels on each side? sorry I'm ignorant to this issue never had b4.will towAAA

Find the service parts decal on your Caddy and see which code is present on the decal. The hardest part will be locating the decal. Places to check are the trunk lid, the spare tire cardboard cover under the mat in the trunk, one of the front door jams or inside the glove compartment or console, but it is in plain site so you can see it. Here is what it typically looks like >> http://www.google.com/imgres

look at the service parts sticker located in the trunk on the spare tire cover
2nd paragraph of numbers and letters on the sticker

that will give you the brake info you need for the vehicle
The 9 inch rear brake shoes are probably what you have but check the sticker to be sure
My car has the jm4 setup 9inch rear shoes w/the heavy duty fronts
If you are not sure remember to take your old pads and shoes to the parts house to be sure you get what you need and save your self a trip back.

If you are going the GM route thru a dealer they will check the sticker

My brakes went out and when I pulled back into car port there was a puddle of green liquid under the
front passenger side of the car. I drove to thestore about 7 miles and about 1 mile on way back home the brakes were VERY low. I just checkd and it is still leaking green liquid = front passenger side.

Appears as the brake line, brake caliper or wheel cylinder has leaked. Get the vehicle towed or transported to a trustworthy repair shop.
