My AC was working but wouldn't always come out the vents. Blower made intermittant noise and now won't work. What parts?
Do I need to replace more than the blower itself?

It could be a dafective Blower Motor Resistor or the Blower Motor is already damage.
Replace the blower motor resistor first and test your A/C after the replacement. Open the link for the replacement procedure of the Resistor.

      http://www.automd.com/.../

If it doesn't work, Replace the Vlower Motor then.

AC worked but made noise and wouldn't always come out the vents. Blower is out now! What do I need besides the blower.
Do I need to replace the blower control module or the resister along with the blower???

Maybe the blower motor is not bad so verify that by running jumper leads from pos and ground to see if it runs. Don't just buy a blower motro unless you know for sure that the reason for the noise was in fact a bad blower motor. Blower control module failure is common as is the blower motor as well. The module IS the resistor.

AIR FROME DAFORSE TO VENT 1995 ELDORADO CALLIAC WILL CHANGE AIR VENT Why does AC air flow won't change to vent?
127.000 MILE...It happens when the vehicle starts until it is cut off. It started about a month ago as every once in a while but lately its stays on defrost and won't change to vent. The check engine light is not on but the traction control light is on.

      1. Check the Black vacuum hose at the solenoid pack under the right side of the dash for engine vacuum.

      2. If low or no vacuum is observed, check for a disconnected or misrouted vacuum supply hose in the engine compartment

How do I troubleshoot the failure of the ACCompressor not responding to switch control ? & switch automatically changes
from regular setting to AUTO selection .

    • Willie C Williams
      Hello Loral,

If you have not done so already? make sure your has been recharged then run this simple test. make sure controls are set to manual, set (AC) to lowest setting set the to the highest setting, let it run with windows up doors closed for 10 minutes or until (AC) reaches the coldest point. Then open the doors you want to hear if the compressor changes in anyway if it do's then you may need to change it.

PS if the compressor changes to auto mode before it reaches coldest point then you it is time to change it.

      Willie

And what is the best way to fix or replace it

Cannot do this without repair manual that details these repairs. The mode door actuator is what usually fails.

It depends. If the sheet metal was damaged, that will have to be repaired first, or the lock won't seat properly. That's done by a body shop. The lock itself would have to be looked at-by a locksmith. If it's not possible to repair, a new one can be installed and keyed to match. This is NOT something many car dealers or mechanics can do. Removal and replacement of the lock cylinder isn't very difficult, BTW-if not self-evident, a service manual should show how.

How do you replace a blend door actuator on a 2002 cadillac deville

Blend Door Actuator is located on the front of the HVAC housing to the right of the floor panel to the transmission tunnel.

When replacing Blend Door Actuator, you have to disabled the Airbag Systems first. Disconnect the battery negative terminal and wait fir atleast two minuets before starting the procedure for the Airbag system capacitor to discharged.

      Here's how.
      >you have to remove the Glove box door and the lower I/P Glove box door that soround the panel. Unplug the connectors and loosen the screws that holds the Blend Door Actuator to the HVAC housing. Pull out the Blend Door Actuator and install the new one. Reverse the procedure when installing.

A+ answer BTX. One more detail I can add. If there is a fault code stored for the bad blend door actuator and the new actuator is installed without clearing the code, the replacement actuator will still not work. This applies to GM vehicles, not sure about the rest.

Since i'm not sure if you have a TAPE drive regulator or not, ill just put both.

      1. Remove the regulator (NOTE: This should be done when the regulator is moved from the door. Te regulator lift arms are under tension from the counterbalance spring and can cause serious injury if the motor is removed without locking the secotr gear in position)

      2. Drill a hole through the regulator sector gear and back plate and install a screw and nut to lock the sector gear into position. Do not drill the hole closer than 1/2 in. to the edge of the sector gear or backplate.

      3. Remove the rivets holding the motor to the regulator using a 3/16 drill bit.

      4. Install the motor to the regulator using 3/16 rivets.
      5. Install the regulator

      For tape drive regulators

      1. Remove the trim panel, sound absorber pad and water deflector
      2. Disconnect the harness at the motor
      3. Tape the window to the frame with pieces of cloth backed body tape to prevent the glass from dropping when the regulator is removed.

(NOTE: Unless the glass is taped or blocked in the up position, personal injusry or glass damage may happen)

      4. The front doors have locating dimples in the innner panel to loacate the motor to regulator attaching bolts. Using a 3/4 in hole saw, drill three holes at the locating dimples

      5. Remove the motor attaching bolts, disconnect the wire connector and remove the motor thorugh the access hole.

      To install:

      6. Lubricate the motor drive gear and regulator sector teeth. Attach the motor to the regulator and make sure the drive gear properly engages the sector teeth before installing the motor attaching bolts. Tighten the attaching bolts to 125 in/lbs.

      7. Use waterproof tape to seal any holes outside the water deflector sealing area and install the trim.
