Problem with Ignition cylinder or Ignition switch?
I have a 2000 Cadillac Escalade. Occasionally the radio, wipers, and windows stop working. When I shut the car off and wiggle the key while starting it again they might start working.

Short answer = yes. There may be a problem with the ignition switch or ignition cylinder. As a first step, check the ignition switch wiring connection - be sure the wires are secure and not loose or corroded.

Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com, wwwpartsgeek.com, and www.rockauto.com - to list only a few. For example, they (RockAuto) list the ignition / starter switch from around $20.00 for your vehicle. This is: AC Delco part # D1487D

Check the fuses and wiring / connections, as well as the relays for a loose connection.

After checking items previously mentioned, dont forget to check the resistor for the blower motor and the motor itself. Its the part under your dash(passenger side) that has a couple screws attaching it to the black housing which holds the ac/heater components

Warning ding and headlights stay on after car is turned off. However, everything is off as should be.
The only way I have been able to turn them (the headlights and ding) off is to disconnect battery

Thats called the twilight sentinel feature.Should be a knob to right of headlight switch. Is there and have you tried adjusting it?That switch bein bad(shorted)could cause your problem. There should also be a fuse that controls switch. If not, just pull the fuse for the headlights until you get the issue fixed.Pullin a fuse is much easier than unhooking battery.Plus, since your caddy is fuel injected its not a good idea to unhook battery because everytime you do this, the computer has to relearn its idle stradegy which sometimes takes 10-40 starting and runnin cycles b4 it is locked into the computers memory

Gas-not diesel Naturally aspirated-not supercharged FI-fuel injected Active brake control-anti lock brakes and/or traction control Not sure about left hand drive-if front wheel driven tranny is on left side or american model has steering wheel on left instead of in Europe where it is on right side

Yes,left hand means the wheel is on left instead of right side of car, like used overseas.Vin y means your car has 275hp instead of a vin 9 car which has 300

Replace the idle air control to take care of the P0507. The B0429 is not clear to me even after reading. It refers to testing the auxiliary temperature door actuator. But they do not mention the location of this actuator. Left or right they don't say, but I guess that one of them is for the rear ac but the cold air comes from the front left or right, not sure. Apparently it seems that they intentionally are not clear about it.

The Air Mix Mode Actuator Blend Door controls the direction of airflow. It selects which way air flows through the different ducts. If your climate control system has lost the ability to control which vents the air comes out of, the MDA has probably failed. Both the ATC and MTC systems use this device.

Cool on the driver side and hot on the pass side is almost always caused by a faulty pass side blend door actuator. If it were the reverse (cool on pass side and hot on driver side the cause is always that the system is low on refrigerant.)
The vehicle A/C system is low on refrigerant, check the low side port, it must have a pressure between 25-35 psi.

No air comes out of dash vents, only the defroster. The drivers side of the defroster feels like heat while the passenger side of defroster is cold when I have the AC on. Blower works fine. The AC shows it is fully charged. Since AC only comes out of defroster and not the dash vents, doesn't that mean that the blend door actuator doesn't work for the dash vents?

The HVAC of this vehicle has 4 different actuators.
      The mode actuator.
      The passenger air mix actuator
      The driver air mix actuator.
      The air inlet actuator.
The Mode Door Actuator controls the direction of airflow. It selects which way air flows through the different ducts. If your climate control system has lost the ability to control which vents the air comes out of, the MDA has probably failed. Both the ATC and MTC systems use this device.

You might have two problems, the mode actuator and the driver air mix actuator aren't working properly.

Does this mean that the mode actuator and the driver mix actuator have to be replaced, or could it be a wiring or fuse problem?
      CVO
      6/17/2013 CVO
The actuators are made with plastics, if they cracked, their synchronization mechanism is binding.

Also, check the Instrument Panel Integration Module ( IPIM ), it controlled those actuators. Local auto parts stores may have the fixture to test it or negotiate with the store managers to obtain a free loaner IPIM for a try.

Why will my ac compressor clutch not engage?
When I push auto button on my temperature control panel it does not stay on and clutch for ac will not engage.

The a/c compressor will engage when; the a/c system is filled with refrigerant, the compressor fuse, relays, wiring / connections and switch / controls are working correctly. If the a/c system is fully charged, then check these other items in the system - starting with the switch, the wiring / connections and fuses to the compressor.

If the sockets are still alive with battery voltage and the red lens is still good and it seems safe you can just change the bulbs. I have seen that happen and the main reason is someone installs a higher wattage bulb than what was called for because they look identical but throw off a lot more heat.

Check the following washer system components; washer pump relay (swap with another one of the same size rating to see if the problem disappears), faulty washer switch, faulty washer pump wiring or connection to the washer motor, faulty washer pump.
Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the washer pump relay from around $98.00 (AC Delco part # D1756A) and the washer pump from around $16.60 (AC Delco part # 86710) for your vehicle.
