Why when car is not moving oil pressure is down to 8 but when moving it goes way up and oil light dings when warm
The oil light will ding when warm and the first stop is made. Oil pressure is down to 8 when sitting still but when the car moves it goes way up. The oil light only dings when the car is warm and it is in a stopped position.

First question - is the engine oil level correct? If the oil level is too low - this may cause the low pressure warning.
If the engine oil level is OK - within the fill range indicated on the dipstick, and the oil viscosity is correct (5w20, 5w30, etc) per recommendation in the owners manual - then the problem may be related these issues; faulty oil pressure switch or sensor, faulty / worn engine oil pump, faulty / worn engine main or rod bearings (excess clearance) due to normal wear and mileage for the engine and vehicle.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the engine oil pressure switch / sending unit from around $26.70 for your vehicle.
The pressure sending unit is located near the engine oil filter - usually threaded into the engine block - and is easily replaced. Reference these websites for the specific steps; www.AutoMD.com or www.autozone.com.

This car runs good cold, but when warms up has a bad hesitation, missfire, and acts like out of time.
have checked timing chain, fuel pressure and ignition system

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

      1. Run the engine to operating temperature. Disconnect the fuel injectors.

      2. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of each of the injectors. At operating temperature, the injectors should have a resistance value of 12.4 or greater. All resistance values need to be within 0.2 ohms of the highest recorded value.

Ignition switches do not fail often on 94 Park Ave. Question: When it does not start, do you still see all the dash warning lights illuminate like usual when the key is turned to "on"? Or, is the dashboard dark as though someone had the battery disconnected? It could be the starter but I would be pissed that they called it a ignition switch and billed you for that. That is not a good shop. The ignition switch did not solve the problem so why pay for that. I would tell them you are gonna sue them small claims and then go to a different shop.

Another question I did not ask. There is a security light that is supposed to illuminate at key on for a few seconds and then go out. Do you see that happen or do you see the security light stay illuminated? Because if the light remains on when it does not start then the cause would be a bad ignition lock cylinder which is "near" the igniition switch and I am wondering is this is what they replaced? By the way, there is a conclusive test to be certain that the starter is no good BEFORE actually replacing the starter.

I have a very slow oil leaf & can not determine where it is coming from. I have a 2003 Rendezvous.
Dealership said it was the manifold. I had a new one put in & still have the leak. Need help.

The 3.4 and the 3.1 both have intermediate shafts under the throttle body and the intermediate shaft has an o-ring that gets hard and brittle and no longer seals the oil from coming out. That is likely where you are leaking oil. Getting the intermediate shaft out requires removing the throttle body for access.

My car won't start, symptoms listed in additional details. Is the problem likely a starter, battery or solenoid?

Sounds like a weak battery - but before replacing the battery, remove it and take to the nearest auto parts store to have the battery fully recharged and tested for free.

There may be other issues; alternator, serpentine drive belt worn or belt tensioner worn.

Once the battery is fully charged and reinstalled - take the vehicle to the nearest auto parts store for a complete charging system test - for free - to test the condition of the; alternator, battery, belt, wiring, starter, etc. Post a reply with the results for further assistance.

It turned out the old battery was shot. The new battery did the trick, it started right up. Thanks for the help. I will, however, have the charging system tested just to make sure. Thank you!

Hard Start Cold No Fuel Pressure
Car only has 29k just purchased...Had all new injectors and fuelpump replaced. When sitting for several hours it has no fuel pressure until cranking for extended period then runs rough for a while

Replace the fuel injection pressure regulator - this device maintains a certain fuel pressure and evens out the pulsations of the fuel injectors. You also need to test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail - the fuel rail is simply a tube to distribute fuel to each injector at each cylinder.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the fuel injection pressure regulator from around $37.00 for your vehicle.

Did you check gauge imediatly after shutting car off. It should hold pressure and not bleed
off. If it does you maybe losing pressure because the pressure regulator or an injector is
      bleeding off the pressure

Check engine light on + rough idling
    what may cause these problems

    • Jimm
      2/28/2014 Jimm
The check engine light is located on the dash and stays on if the computerized engine control system detects an engine performance or emissions problem.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light. There are literally hundreds of possible fault codes and therefore numerous reasons for the MIL condition.

This step is important - retrieving the stored fault code and relaying this detail - will provide good information to assist in diagnosing and repairing the issue you are having.

Is $4000.00 a fare price to install rebuilt engine?
I got a 1992 Buick Regal Limited coupe with a 3.1L engine. The mechanic looked at the engine after the intake manifold was lifted and said the engine is full of sludge and not worth fixing. So I said replace engine with a rebuilt 3.1 L . The mechanic quoted ...

A remanufactured engine is about $1500 plus the cost of oil and filters and gaskets etc and will require about 20 hours of labor to dress the new engine and install. $4000 is a good price. Anyone that would do this job is entitled to expect a profit of about 2000 to 2500 for all those hours. In New York you would not get this job done for less than $4500 or more.

One more thing. If you decide to go ahead with this it would be in your best interests to assemble the engine with 6 new fuel injectors as the fuel injectors GM used between '87 and '93 were prone to failure and I am sure are very degraded by now. Maybe they will let you supply them so they don't mark up those parts. They are making money on the rest of the job so they shouldn't mind. It will not add any labor while the engine is apart anyway. Also, ask about warranty coverage. Typical industry warranty is usually 3 year unlimited mileage.

I'm confused. What do you mean when you say " idle is too high only to start "?
If the idle is high all the time, you may have anything from a vacuum hose leak
to a bad Idle Air Control Motor

No you just need to take it to another mechanic and tell the same story. Your story is the truth so its easy to understand. The engine in your Buick is not an uncommon engine and most shops will be fine with taking over. I don't know how the stalling out got related to a coolant leak and intake manifold removal but whatever. Tell the same story to another shop. Stop in there in person and tell the story before bringing them the car. Get a feeling of assurance that they will handle it.
      HouseCallAuto

I will do that. I will stop in a triple A approved shop in person , tell them the story then get Buick towed there if they accept .

      I appreciate your advice.

      Thank you.

The only thing that can cause the fuel pump fuse to blow is a direct short circuit internally of the fuel pump motor itself OR if the Gray battery voltage supply wire is touching a ground in between the fuse panel and the fuel pump connector. In most cases the fuel pump is the cause, but this still requires confirming.
