I need front and rear brake sensors (Pads were replaced but not the sensors) Now the brake warning indicator is on.
I see PEX notes the front sensor is for the FRONT DRIVERS side only. Do I need one for the FRONT passenger side? Also do I need 2 for the rear?

No only 1 for the front and one for the rear.

How much does it cost to replace a Alternator?
All my dash lights are on, and the dealer is telling me that my Alternator needs replacing.

This is a BMW and you are at a dealer. The dealer sells there own parts with their own pricing. The alternator itself could cost a lot plus a few hours of labor for a bill that may go well beyond 1000. An independent shop would be hundreds cheaper. Maybe many hundreds.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the alternator (remanufactured) from around $88.00 for your vehicle.

Hard Brake Pedal During Low Temperatures
Hi, I own a 2000 BMW 540I and it currently has just under 100k miles on it. I've noticed that when the temperature drops to below 25-20 degrees, the next morning, I feel the brake pedal frozen. Even after warming the vehicle and pumping the brakes, I get it ...

Several possibilities; condensation forming on the brake components plus overnight frost (cold temperatures) equals a stiff brake action.
There is also the possibility that the moisture entrained in the brake fluid is freezing, and the description given - where a slight pressure causes the brakes to grab - leads me to believe this is the case. The fix for this condition would be to flush the old fluid from the system and refill with fresh clean brake fluid.

Check the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the specific steps to flush and bleed the brake system.

Did you clear them with the diagnostic tool? Also, what are the codes themselves? These answers would help in finding a possible solution.

ABS/ASC Pump Cycling ABS/ASC Lights on at startup. Lights go off after restarting warm engine but pump keeps cycling.
This appears to be an ASC (traction control) problem and not ABS, although both systems use the same components. Relays, fluid, and battery check out OK. Both warning lights are usually on at startup. After a few minutes, the lights do not come on after restarting ...

Why does the break light switch keep burning out?

    • Jimm
      5/24/2013 Jimm
Usually, any switch burns out due to an overvoltage condition. There is excess current draw in the circuit. That could be due to a bad connection at the burned connector. Replace the switch connector and wiring pigtail.

Vacuum line of the master cylinder, what is the part that it goes to.
My brakes are hard to mash and near the floor. The rotors and brakes are good.

    • Jimm
      5/18/2013 Jimm
One end of the vacuum line (hose) connects to a port on the engine - the other end connects to a port on the power brake booster - just behind the brake master cylinder. As a first step - check the vacuum line itself and the connection points for any damage / cracks or leaks.

It may be the power brake booster unit is faulty - usually caused by age and a cracked diaphragm. The brake booster unit is available as a separate item.
Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the power brake booster unit from around $216.00 (remanufactured and minus core exchange) for your vehicle.

What do the vacuum on the master cylinder go to
Vacuum lines on the master cylinder

Vacuum lines go to the brake-booster not the master cylinder unless B.M.W. is different. They are connected to the intake manifold where the vacuum is created from the engine.
