Transmission feels good until car reaches 50-60 mph. I then feel a slight shudder as it shifts into a cruising gear.
After 60 mph it seems to smooth out. If I shift to neutral when it is shuddering it seems to stop and I don't feel it at lower speeds.

What is the cause of a low pitch vibration in drive line when accelerating from a stop?
The sound is audible and also felt. It is like two rubber gears slipping out of connection when you first accelerate briskly. Does not happen when accelerating slowly...yet. It feels like a drive line problem. No other noise associated while driving or braking. ...

Check the following items; front axle hub / hub bearing assemblies (both left and right side), front strut upper mounts, front suspension bushings.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the front hub bearing assemblies from around $12.00 each for your vehicle.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do the bearings or hub components usually go out this suddenly? Can you elaborate on what causes the noise?
    • Jimm

These are merely suggestions as to the possible causes / sources of the noise, best to check the front wheels and hub bearings / front suspension / front CV axles to determine the exact source. Use the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the diagnosis steps.

Not sure if the bearings or any component has worn suddenly or not on your vehicle - typically, the front wheel bearing wear and failure - is gradual over time and miles driven.

    Am I getting ripped off?
I have rebuild transmission in 1997 Acura CL 3.0 still under warranty. 8 month after rebuild, I have codes P0700, and 2 codes for Clutch Pressure Control (Linear) Solenoid Valve A and B, car is stalling at red light, can't put in reverse gears (whines). 1 ...

Sounds like they lack experience with a diagnosis more than ripoff, but they also are charging you for their incompetence. You have to give them reasonable latitude but it sounds like a dart game here. I would like to know all the code numbers and not the titlesor sentences that the scanner says.

Most likely you have a bad idle speed control on the throttle body.

Can Acura cover the cost for transmission?
I own a 2005 Acura TL and the transmission is slipping when I'm driving about 45+mph. An Acura dealer wants to charge me $4500 to replace the tranny. Given the past history of faulty TL transmissions, is there anything I can do to get Acura to cover some of the cost?

Transmissions replaced on 3/2005 and later Acura TLs include a redesigned 3rd gear clutch pack reported to fix the known problem with the transmission. The transmission skips gears and eventually gives out. This seems to be a known problem for Acura/Honda of this year.

In the future, avoid the fluid flush service - this is the worst possible thing that can done to one of these transmissions. Even the Honda service bulletins will tell you that the drain and fill method is the only accepted method of changing out transmission fluid.

I doubt it unless there was some recall relating to a transmission problem but you may be able to get it done at an independent trans shop for $3000

The car has an automatic transmission. about 5 seconds after starting the car the s3 light blinks.
also when 1st starting the car it hesitates. you have to crank it for 5 seconds or so for it to start. after that it starts right up. i don't know if this has anything to do with the s3 light blinking.
