can i replace a two holes door switch by a one hole door switch?

a door switch is the device that puts on/off the interior lights as the doors go open/ closed

  The door has two cavities, one for the switch and the other for speaker wiring. If one of them is no use, of course you could replace with the one hole door switch.

  Are they ecactly the same? (only that the onehole sw. has one hole and a boot)
