1995 Toyota Corolla DX 4Cyl1.8L - Steering & Suspension

ps belt slips when turning - squeals - belt is tight

Have replaced the PS pump, belt, - tried belt dressing.
Been fighting this for a while - oil does not smell burnt.

  Hello
  It is not uncommon for the harmonic balancer ( lower crankshaft pulley) to fail on these cars. There is a rubber insulator between the outer metal and inner metal portion that dry rots. So with that said the outer portion breaks away and starts to spin independently. Causing a squeal type noise. Hope this helps you.
