2004 Mazda B2300 Base 4Cyl2.3L - Brakes
Prkng brake stuck? The step pedal did release upon pulling brake release= NO Move in neutral either.
120,000miles 5spd I was outer island on vacation 3days return home got in my truck started up, warmed up, release parking brake put in reverse and it wouldn't move, tried again giving more power but No movement at all engine dies off(loaded) = Parking brake seems stuck, although the step pedal was released upon pulling brake release lever. We Can't push the truck to move in neutral either. We jacked up the rear wheels off ground enough then had a guy on each wheel attempt to spin it freely by hand= pass side rotates, Drivr side stuck. prior to the vacation truck was fine, didn't notice anything... It may seem like the Drum brake shoes has overlocked or exceeded something. I also heard that these type may be self adjusting upon the wear??? Any feedback or opinions is helpful - THANX

Try to check the condition of your parking brake actuator (control). It is possible that your parking brake actuator (control) is defective.

Here’s how you remove and install a parking brake actuator in your vehicle.

    Removal

You should relieve the tension on the parking brake system by pulling down on the parking brake intermediate cable, then inserting a 5/32 in (4 mm) drill bit in the parking brake control. And then remove the left-hand front fender apron.

You should disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake intermediate cable. Remember to disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit at the end of the connector with the locating hole.

Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit from the bracket. And then remove the parking brake release mounting bolts. Remove the parking brake control and front parking brake cable and conduit.

    Installation

Install the parking brake control and front parking brake cable and conduit. Tighten the parking brake control bolts to 13-17 ft-lb (17-23 Nm). Install the parking brake release mounting bolts and then tighten it to 19-25 in-lb (2.1-2.9 Nm). Install the front parking brake cable and conduit to the bracket.

Reconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit to the parking brake intermediate cable. Install the left-hand fender apron. Slightly depress the parking brake and remove the drill bit. Be certain that the parking brake is operating correctly.

Well we're now pass anything of the interior... We are now with the rear end up on jack stands and the driver rear wheel and drum off the axle which was a pain in the but to yank off - tho we finally got it off! the shoes look a bit worn, get this on the inside of the drum you literally can see the exact markings of the shoes on the drum looking almost as if it was at the point of welding or fusing together sorta. only the driver rear wheel was stuck.
