1998 Lincoln Continental Base 8Cyl4.6L - Steering & Suspension

power steering assist light

every now and then when coming to a stop my check power steering assist warning light comes on, and the steering gets hard, after i turn engine off, then back on again, it returns to normal, until the next time.

  This is kind of like a check engine light, but for the steering and air suspension system. I recommend you take it to a dealer to scan for the codes, then diagnostics can be performed from there. I don't think a regular scan tool would be able to retrieve these codes.
