1988 BMW 735i Base 6Cyl3.5L - Transmissions & Drivetrains

I get a low pitched rumble from the rear end when making low speed, slow turns. Is this a sign of bad wheel bearings?

  More likely a problem with the differential wanting to bind up instead of slipping as one wheel turns a different radius than the other in a turn (different wheel speeds). If this is the case it might be solved by draining and refilling the differential with new differential oil and the proper additive from BMW only. Wheel bearings in the rear if bad would make noise at all times.
