have you checked the gear oil in the rear end recently?
have you greased the u joints recently? -
HouseCallAuto 2/1/2013Yes, you have a bad axle bearing or you have a bad pinion bearing. Hard to distinguish between the two without partial disassembly. In some cases the axle shafts are worn and pitted where they ride on the axle bearing rollers as well. And yes, check the gear oil level, but it is likely that if there is no wet spots on the housing indicating long term leakage, then the unit is likely full.
