1997 Toyota 4Runner Limited 6Cyl3.4L - Transmissions & Drivetrains

The first morning the temp got below freezing the front wheels wouldn't turn. When it got 50 degrees they would be fine.

140,000mi. When below freezing front wheels frozen, even when the back tires spun. Tried again when the temp warmed (50) and it was as if nothing was wrong.

  How long have you had the 4 runner ? Check the front diff . Would bet it's got water in it . When cold it turns into a block of ice inside the front diff and the gears can't turn till it warms up .

  Had this for 4 months, it's the first time it's gotten cold.

  Pull the plug and check it . If it has water in it and gets real cold it will brake things .
