loud knocking by the valve cover not sure if it is a stuck lifter, timing chain or oil pump how do i figure out which

  Use some Sea foam and that should help if its a stuck lifter or timing chain
  
  but if you suspect its the timing chain get it checked out. If it goes out and you try and start it after it goes out youll have a whloe lote more to worry about than just replacing the timing chain. Youll have bent valves lifters might not be right etc depending.
  
  
  Just try some sea foam and if that doesnt work try and post back ill help ive had this problem before as well
