Instrument cluster damaging trans?

In the last two months I had the trans repaired twice. It has no power when pulling a trailer. The mechanic said it may be the instrument cluster damagin the trans. How can that be possible?

  are you loosing power to the cluster when it gets hot=if so the speed sensor cant read propertly and causes a hard shift points posing a problem with internal parts
