My HVAC blower motor occasionally will not work on speeds 1-3, but will work on speed 4. Then it will start working agai

This problem is intermittent. some times it will happen on start up or as I'm driving down the road. Sometimes if I restart the engine, it will be ok.

  Check the blower resistor for scorch marks (overheating) at the connector.

  Where would this resistor be located at? I've never heard of this. Thanks
