how do i get my car gear shifter to put mycar in gear

the buttin that puts it in gear broke and it wont put my car in gear.

  If you can get the button out you can put a suitable tool inside and manually actuate the mechanism. The shifter assembly does come apart but you have to find where they hide the retaining screw for the handle.
