How do I tell if I blew a head gasket & what caused my initial problem?
My car started revving itself while in idle but I was late for work and chalked it up to cold weather cos it went away when I got to 3rd gear (I have a 5-speed). Upon leaving work it got worse then almost completely overheated within 6 miles. stopped to check water/coolant level had to add a little. and was out of oil. filled oil but got worse. Had to get it home so drove 12 miles almost redlined. Started smoking as soon as I shut if off.

CVO 2/2/2013Do a compression test in all 4 cylinders. A same compression readings between the cylinders # 2 and # 3, it is considered a head blown gasket.
