Why do I hear a hissing sound?
There is a hissing sound when I apply the brakes.

    If you are hearing the sound inside the passenger compartment while you are braking, the problem could be in the power brake booster. It is a vacuum canister that can leak when bad. You hear the leak as a "hiss". The brake booster is located behind the brake master cylinder.
