AC130 Spectre 8/26/2010Your CV joints are leaking, it can be a cheap or expensive fix, WHY?
Because if your mechanic tells you its just the boot, then you will pay like 20 bucks for it
But if he tells you its the joint, its gonna cost you a couple of hundred bucks.
Edwardafoster 8/28/2010The mechanic did a repair three years ago. It was a steering knuckle rebuild kit. He also replaced the bearing. He gave me an option of a used front end for $2700. I declined and went with the repair for $600. Now, three years and 40k miles later I'm in the same predicament. I guess I'll go with the $640 repair again? -
HouseCallAuto 8/26/2010Have the drive axle replaced. If the boot is torn and has been like that for a while it is likely that the CV joint is bad by now. Do not consider just changing the boot.
